Do we have a better receiver core this season or last?

I think they are close but I think this coming year is more talented. Obviously we don't have joe or Clyde and I'm not taking them into account. I'm going to rate their skill level at the begining of the year with a 0-10 number and what I feel they progressed to by the end with another number, this is what I feel they were. Terrace Marshall was noticably worse for the remainder of the year after his foot injury, although he was starting to get back into form at the end of the year. I also don't think Moss was very special athleticly, he was mainly a sure handed checkdown.

Which would you rather:

2019
8>9 Justin Jefferson
8>10 Ja'Marr Chase (year 2)
8>7 Terrace Marshall (year 2 injured*)
5>6 Thad Moss

Or

2020
11 Ja'Marr Chase (year 3)
9 Terrace Marshall (year 3 healthy)
7 Racey Mcmath
7 Arik Gilbert

Vote which core you think is better

Easy...2020

Added two 5-stars (Gilbert & Boutte) and two studs in the rotation (McMath & Palmer)

Coming into the season I don’t see how you could say 2020 is better than 2019.. knowing what we got to see already last year.

Jamar=Jamar
Terrace=Terrace
Jefferson >> McMath
Moss > Gilbert

Probably 2020 but no way to say. If the guys from last year make a jump (Chase, Marshall, McMath, etc) you pretty much have the same core as last year except everyone is better. You replace JJ with guys like McMath, Palmer, Boutte etc. and they don’t even have to be as good as Jefferson to make 2020 better if we somehow have an even better Chase and Marshall

The time to ask this question is after the 2020 season. As everything at this point is pure speculation.

I gave you a 5th up vs 8 Dn (that just don’t respect a good question) — It’s a push since we lost Moss and Sullivan & JJ

Gonna Miss JJ and that two step @$$ shakin After TDs — That in itself was priceless you gotta admit

95 TDs in 2019 — Watch JJ Shake it down funny as hell

Teams got so pissed off at LSU lololololol

I’m optimistic this team can score close to 6 TDs a game — Last year it was 6.33/game

Experience in the system is a plus — Exp Lost at QB will make it a push

Can I have about 3 games before I decide? Arik could be one of the greatest we’ve seen at LSU..and McMath is a stud...let’s see how things start.

Burrow and Everyone being in sync with the offensive system made 2019s WR core go from great to phenomenal.

Time can only tell for 2020.

And don’t sleep on how well Clyde played in the passing game last year. He did all the little things correctly to help spread to field even more. Need an RB to step up big in the passing and protection game.

Reciever corps btw. I think we have a better one this season personally.

Receiving core may be better but that's not how it works. The quarterback throwing to them has a big impact on how the receivers end up being judged.

I go by coverage and Justin Jefferson was more double covered than the others so I’m sorry to lose him, but you can’t deny that Arik Gilbert adds an unbelievable
amount of versatility.

Do you mean core as in the heart of the group or do you mean corps as in the entire group?

They're comparable but its going to be hard to beat last years receiving core. Receivers rely on more than just theirselves to make a play. A bad O -line or a bad throw can make all the difference in a receivers game, season, career.

I know he wasn't part of the WR corps but CEH had great hands. I don't remember him ever dropping a ball that was thrown to him. Praying one of the three we have will turn into a "receiver" like that. Makes it great. Everyone is keying in on the WRs and then here's a little dink to your RB. You can't cover them all.

Groups are very similar, but you're swapping a 1st rd pick for a highly touted freshman.

In that basis, I'm going with 2019
