The NFL competition committee hopes to present at the fall meeting in October a revised proposal to reward teams for identifying and developing coaches and executives of color, I’m told. Still getting feedback from clubs/external experts, but it’s alive for the next hiring cycle.

Football had a good run. It's been on a slow death march for a while.

The only reward football executives care about are wins.

The only reward football coaches care about are wins.

The only reward football fans care about are wins.

you gotta be quite the loser to take a job you know your not as qualified as others and only got it so your boss or boss’s boss can make some extra bonus money by hiring you b/c you are black or a woman.

I’ve said before. Just invite all minority coaches/assistants and have a meet and greet with owners and head coaches across the league during the owners meetings. Give them a chance to network and for others to meet them. Familiarity and confidence would likely lead to future opportunity.

Or

Create some bullshite pandering system of middling draft picks and insulting incentives. Whatever.

I want the NFL and NBA to fire all the existing coaching staffs and have the players vote for who they want as Coaches, Coordinators and Assistants. Then see how great the quality of play will be.

I highly doubt that thought crosses the mind of the type of individual who would accept a job under those terms. :Don’t care had job:

Any discussions about the race disparity of players, or just coaches?

Will NASCAR follow the NFL’s lead. Should they give Bubba Wallace a one lap lead every race?

Why don’t they skip this silly posturing and just ban white people already? Strip the owners of their teams and kick every last “evil whitey” out of the sport.

Pretty sure a few black coaches came out and said the entire idea was insulting when first introduced, which is why the NFL still trying to do it is surprising to me

I'm telling you in 10 years a president will do this to small business on the taxpayer's dime

Absolutely laughable.

If I was a black I’d be embarrassed to walk into an organization with just the thought that I could’ve been hired out of pity.

This is ridiculous. We ALL saw how the NFL helps teams that they would like to see in the SB for business reasons - the Los Angeles Rams last appearance in the NFCCG is a blatant and obvious example of how it's done.

All this proposed plan does is to bring the favoritism out in the open.

stop pretending its even supposed to be merit based and just admit what it is, a racially driven hiring quota.

then every team who hires an unqualified token coach gets 37 1st round draft picks and 12 second round draft picks

that ought to do it

Head coach or gm = 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks.

Assistant coaches and lower level execs bring lower, fewer picks
