Over the fierce objections of municipalities, Gov. John Bel Edwards late Monday night approved legislation that effectively invalidates local and parish ordinances restricting where a person can go with a firearm. Then on Tuesday afternoon Edwards signed a second bill that stops local officials from regulating gun sales during times of emergency. He signed a third measure Friday.

Edwards has signed into law all three pro-gun bills that traveled through the legislative process together. In a session marked by limited public input because of coronavirus social distancing protocols put in place by the leadership, a couple dozen gun rights advocates managed to come to the State Capitol and testify in favor of the legislation.
On Friday Edwards approved a bill that allows people to carry their guns into places of worship, provided the head of that specific church agrees.

Sounds good.
Some say the world is flat too... Do you give those voices space in your titles as well?

I will now suspend my JBE hate for 24 hours.

Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Broome noted that nearly 90,000 Americans are injured every year as a result of assaults and unintentional shootings.
I love how they throw in completely irrelevant statistics to intentionally mislead the public.

Presidential material gentlemen, but the Democrats would be too stupid to back him.

We would've gotten the same thing with Eddie RIspone without the high taxes, high spending, shilling for trial lawyers, and holding the state's economy hostage during Covid for more federal dollars we're getting from JBE.
frick JBE.

This shows just how feckless the legislature is. Instead of tiptoeing around a couple fricking gun bills they should have just passed constitutional carry and been done with it! But nope not those bastards

It's been quiet on the local front because of all of the nationwide mass hysteria, but Louisiana also passed a bill greatly expanding access to medical marijuana.

JBE being white and male alone is enough to disqualify him.
Joe Biden will be the last white male to clinch the democrat nomination and he only has the nomination by default of not being Bernie and Obama connection.

While it still cannot be prescribed in a smokable form, LSU and Southern have the monopolies to grow and process it, and the government gets tight control over which pharmacies get the lucrative licenses to sell it, now doctors can finally prescribe marijuana to treat any illness they feel it could benefit. When medical marijuana was first passed, the list of allowable uses was tiny, now it’s freely prescribable for anyThing a doctor thinks it could help with.

And any doc in good standing can recommend it now. Before this law, the doc had to obtain a special license.

Got some bad news. Whoever replaces her will be just as bad if not worse.

Louisiana state law already pre-empted any "more restrictive than state" local ordinances passed before, I believe, 1986 or so. What was different about this?

I highly doubt that, she’s the worst mayor BR has ever had and is one of the worst mayors in the country. She’s a complete embarrassment

You can thank the sheriff's Association for that. They Lobby the frick out of Louisiana legislature. Damn near every opportunity, that representative from Metairie introduces his constitutional carry and they can never get it passed committee. Despite overwhelming support for it throughout the state by the citizens are supposed to serve
