They aren't exactly the same as the regular 50 to 200 member churchesthat everyone grew up in. There bringing in Millions of dollars, shouldn't they be taxed?

All churches should be taxed. Non-profits too.

No. That’s a slippery slope.

And who even thinks about creating more taxes?

We need to find ways to lower taxes.

No.

If they are operating improperly, remove their non-profit status.

What about the black churches that preach a political message week in and week out?

MegaChurches are the Walmarts and Amazons of the religious world. At some point their resources and reach become so great they easily put smaller churches "out of business" one franchise at a time.

It's the American way. It's the American Church.

The taxes already exist. You can lower taxes by decreasing exemptions.

On the flip side, should we start taxing any church that only has 10 congregants or less?

A megachurch is at least a bonafide church.

Lots of micro churches basically exist to serve as a way of sheltering people from taxes like former Port Allen mayor Deedy Slaughter.

Here’s a guy who hates separation of church and state.

If you would like to create millions of new PACs that can legally donate money to politicians and advocate for political causes from the pulpit, go ahead with this thought process.

You think laws don’t apply to churches?

The better question is why do so many people think those guady megachurches are what jesus -blessed are the poor- preached?

Every time I see one I hear a cash register sound. Cha ching

Yea that’s exactly what we need. More money being stolen from citizens to line crooked politicians’ pockets and pay for diversity programs that don’t do shite. At least Megachurches actually do productive/helpful things with their money, even if it’s just for show.

To some it is about the show... However, you mention the people... I am certain there are plenty of good, Christ centered people in these mega-churches worshipping...

The church is the people and I cringe every single time I hear someone talk about the "owner of a church"...

That’s a fair question. But irrelevant to their non-profit status.

I think roughly the same thing when I see a Red Cross logo.

If a "pastor" promises healing or other remuneration in exchange for money, then yes (that's called a scam).
Has nothing to do with the size of the church.
