AI got to play in the east when it was at its worst.

his finals appearance isn't as impressive as it would appear.

And he was terribly inefficient

LOL he all but threw that game with all the advantages and odds in his favor, that's a pretty damning stain

only golden state has beat him when he was himself in the last 5 seasons.

didn't they twice blow series leads to these guys?

Daryl Morey says Harden is a better scorer than Michael Jordan so I have to go with him.

daryl is just relaying what the numbers tell him. Harden last year scored more than mike ever did on a per possession basis AND was more a efficient scorer than mike ever was. both are backed up by the numbers.

Largely due to greater emphasis placed on the 3 and he doesn't break a sweat on defense to conserve energy for offense whereas MJ submitted all-world, superhuman offense AND defense all 48 minutes, stats don't tell the whole story, Boom

Top 5 in both steals and deflections. Those are effort plays. Oh also he is the leagues premier post defender.

I will concede he's improved to a degree, maybe 3rd team all-defense level, he wasn't touching what MJ brought there though, he also doesn't attack the basket as aggressively and expose himself to rough ball tactics like MJ did, it's still great but it's an apples to oranges thing

Moreover, how can a "premier post defender" not even rank among the league leaders in blocks and defensive rebounds? Those are pretty damn big categories for post defending.

he is not a rim protector. He has a low center of gravity and is stronger than most all post players. He bodies then and gets them off balance. Oh and he causes a turnover on about 20% of his possessions defensively due to his high hoops iq. Swiping at the ball and getting steals. he guards the most post ups of any player in the nba. But still not enough to boost def rebound numbers.

You really must have not been paying attention. he was all world defender.

Houston lost mostly due to bzdelik and Paul and capela.

AI was one of my favorite players growing up, so I feel like I'm a trader here.

But Ima roll with Boom's boy here. Harden is an elite all-time scorer. Most of the stats comparing the 2 would favor Harden. Im not a fan of his game overall, but he knows how to handle business.

Harden is one of the greatest NBA scorers of all time. You can debate the traveling and the points from the line, but given the rules today in the NBA, Harden is a top scorer

I too, was a big AI fan. But when ranking players, I cannot play favorites. I awlays gotta view players from an unbiased lens, like if I was a scout or Gm. Harden is all time elite. Chuck had an all time elite heart, but not the Efficiency to even make a serious comparison between him and harden.

I have always Believed that when you beat a team or a player when they are banged up, you don’t get credit for beating the 100% version of same player or team.

See: cavs over warriors when warriors were at maybe 60%, spurs over rockets when harden wasn’t himself, raptors over warriors last year, etc.
