If Floyd would have gotten in the SUV instead of going to the ground to resist arrest none of this would be happening.
We can't have a civilization that allows people to act however they choose to because of the color of their skin.
I'm appalled at their behavior all the time. Unfortunately it reflects poorly on all of us blacks, and today for the first time in my life I'm deeply ashamed to be black, because I appear to be one of them.
I'll back the blue, and I'll stand with any group that opposes these heathen rioters

So you think Floyd was compliant and handcuffed and let them walk him across the street.. but decided to start resisting once he fell down a 2nd time?

It wasn't a force, it was four guys who deserve to be punished for that. That's it. No need to destroy other's property.
And a botched no knock raid that ended the life of Breonna Taylor.
And a former LEO and son chasing down a black guy trying to arrest him.. then killed him.
And the woman calling the police on a man in central park telling them an African American man was threatening her and her dog.
And the police aggressively enforcing Covid19 lockdowns.
Surely you can sympathize with at least one of those.

And I’m still incredulous about the whole Sandra Bland killing, as well.

I don’t understand why some people don’t want to acknowledge this trend

None of the above is worthy of destroying and looting cities, surely you can agree. Well, can you?

I have a different opinion as to the militarization of our police forces. They need to be two steps ahead of the criminal elements they face Day in and out. I would have to say they are equal in armaments and not always but much better trained.
Use a SWAT team when absolutely necessary but otherwise no they don’t. When you arm people they tend to use it. Give them more weapons and guess what, they get used. By arming them so much we'vei stilled the mentality in both the cops as well as the populace that they are at war with us. That’s why we are having cities burn right now.
Teach them to deescalate situations, have them more involved in positive things in their communities, actually serve and protect. If our police force actually helped our communities more you’d see a bond grow and that distrust tend to fade. But it takes a change in the mindset though and that’s gonna be tough

No he resisted the cuffs, resisted being pulled away from his vehicle, and then went to the ground refusing to get in the SUV.

It absolutely has to do with the militarization of our police force.
I don’t see how anyone can separate the two issues. George Floyd’s death seems directly attributable to the War on Drugs® and this Police State mentality that views all citizens as potential enemy combatants.
With that said, I hold the individual officers responsible for the man’s death and believe that they should be held accountable and face legal consequences for the death. On the same token, the people burning businesses to the ground and threatening violence against innocents who had nothing whatsoever to do with this man’s death should likewise be held accountable and face legal consequences for their wanton destruction.
Need I even add that? I don’t know why we can’t raise these issues without being accused of supporting violent street demonstrations and mob rule?

Remember back in grade school when those one or two kids were so badly behaved that the teacher had to lecture and enforce strict rules for the entire class...even the ones that behaved..

Sandra Bland? She committed suicide. Are you blaming the police for her suicide or are you intimating something more sinister?

So you think the way she was treated by the cop was appropriate? I don’t buy that she committed suicide.

Only an idiot would protest the militarization of the police force in such a way that justifies even more militarization of police forces.
Behold, the modern Progressive Left.

Agree on both counts. The WoD has helped facilitate the growth the size of law enforcement and they’d reach into our lives. It has caused our police force to declare war against the citizens, and when somebody is at war with you then it’s not unreasonable to fight back.
That said the looters are the scum of the earth. I get the general pissed off ness of society but frick them for what they’re doing.

You guys have to be trolls. I find it impossible to believe anyone with even the slightest education can be this stupid.

quote:They do. All you see is the negative and your mind only recalls that. You lose perspective easily. You have no idea what they experience on a daily basis. You have no idea of the number of daily interactions they engage in across the country every year and with whom. You see a relatively few poor outcomes and you get emotional and want to bitch.
Teach them to deescalate situations, have them more involved in positive things in their communities, actually serve and protect. If our police force actually helped our communities more you’d see a bond grow and that distrust tend to fade.
