In case you haven’t figured it out, the trash burning and destroying cities are the fricking reason the police force has been militarized.

and what are the cops trying to win in their “War on America”?

Property, money, grants..they use this to hire more police, buy more gear, to seize more property/money and get grants..

Mix in a little legitimate graft for personal benefit and it’s a good gig.

Bingo.

My tiny little county just bought 4 more squads, with all brand new equipment, at a cost of 200K while already having 14 of which 7-8 are usually sitting in the parking lot at any time of the day.

It's always more more more.

Statists want citizens wholly dependent upon the Police State for safety which means yet more militarized police tactics to maintain law and order. It is a never-ending loop.

It seems no small coincidence that many of the worst riots are in states that are hostile to 2nd Amendment rights, if not outright hostile to the notion of self-defense. Minnesota indeed is a “Duty To Retreat” State.

What about em? Arrest em. Why are you trying to spin the conversation. People that excuse the militarization of our police force are just as bad as the rioters.

That may be an issue but that is not what the riots or protests are about at all.

If you eant to send a message to cops after this is all over....good, they need a good dressing down as do the politicians who have supported the paramilitarization of PD's.

But they are needed right now to stop the insurrection....this is not about Grorge Floyd or racial stuff at this point.

After this is over , start cutting cop budgets on things ñike AR's and Armored Personnel Carriers.

Citizens have to for their part as well, buuuut they probably won't. Just blame the black guy or a Democrat....it's easier

If we need a militarized police force to stop riots and looting, we have lost our way and are wandering in the wilderness. That unfortunately seems to be where we have found ourselves.

Pretty sure rioting only further justifies their "need to be militarized".

The police have lacked hard fast guidelines in the use of military hardware and tactics. Their are justifiable situations where SWAT is needed, but that is what they are, situations. Using SWAT or military equipment for situations that they are not called for (like serving warrants) is not justifiable. Oh, and add we need to get rid of "no knock" warrants. They have caused useless pain to many.

I come from a cop family, my dad was local and then federal. Grew up around them all my life, I know they aren’t all shitheads. And I don’t condone the rioters at all.

Then you should be particularly ashamed of posting this crap-post, Gnome. You of all should be aware of the feeling that your dad was putting his life at risk every day he went to work. I am sure he served hundreds of arrest warrants every week, some of which may have been more or less risky. I am sure that he did not appreciate a situation where the suspect to whom he was giving lawful commands thought it was a good opportunity to do some civil disobedience.

We are all humans and are fallible. To a lesser degree, there may be psychos that just want to wear a uniform to abuse power. Unless you can show evidence to the contrary, far from meeting your burden of proving "systemic racism."

The premise of your post is otherwise flawed and not supported by your anecdotal "evidence" because I think you are also conflating tactics with strategy and/or policy.

militarization

has nothing to do with this

cops that rummage through your shite because they "smelled marijuana"

And the protests have absolutely nothing to do with Militarization or drugs.

The problem with policing right now is the bullshite lowered hiring standards for "Diversity", inadequate training, lazy political leadership, Unions, and a culture of protecting your own. Most of that is going to be nearly impossible to fix.

How much context do you need to interpret the police giving arse beatings to people being peaceful?

It 100% is. What we are seeing is a backlash of a society that is way too over policed and sick and tired of it. They wrap it in a racial blanket, and say it’s about killing bc that’s the most extreme outcome, but nah this is absolutely about people lashing out against a police force that’s at war with the population that it’s supposed to serve and protect.

i know what is being protested. And its gone way off the rails. You're hurting this country and fricking your cause. God damn idiots can't even see that, how can people lack such basic self awareness?

They want their revolution to hatch in chaos so they can create their barbed wire utopia. Traveling across state lines to incite riot, looting, and engage in destruction of property is a major felony.

Aren't you putting the cart before the horse when buildings get torched and people get beaten before the militarized police come out?

I didn't see this level of force before the riots started.
