Why did she take them to the store with her, its too early in the day to have finished their calculus lessons.

You said it all. You would 100% not do this if you actually were.
This smells a whole lot like a bugapaintrain alter.
My parents did it, and all statistics say it’s safer than ever to be a kid. Maybe if I lived in the Hood I wouldn’t, but no, I plan on raising my kids the same way my parents raised me. To not allow my 8 year old to go biking around the neighborhood without me would deprive them of their childhood. If they betrayed my trust and left the neighborhood, that’s one thing, but I will give them the opportunity to do such.

I remember another time I found my dads can of wintergreen Skoal while waiting....my evil older sister told me it was candy and I could eat it.....that was horrible

You would also trust every other person walking around to not to take the kids? Even if you are fine with paragraph one, you can't be feeling confident in random strangers. And two kids that young would be totally helpless. All it takes is one bad person and one minute
Good thing Karen noticed it and called the cops instead of Chester the Molester noticing it and stealing a child.

Some of you guys never knew what is was like to actually live life. Ride in the beds of trucks everywhere. Ride bikes anywhere. Alone. OP, I'm pretty shocked this number of people thinks it's silly and dangerous to allow kids that age to sit in a car while mom isn't in it Any other day it's just the opposite. Weird.

Why the hell do you keep saying this, like I said this was not ok? You are just making shite up. My daughter is riding her bike down the street as we speak.

At what point do we stop using the term "Karen?" And btw, your wife wasn't in Winn Dixie. She abandoned your children and dog so she could run get some strange behind the store

For me, it depends more on what kind of neighborhood and the 8 year old. I am certain I had more freedom alone than that at that age.
Now, for more help I will need pics of your wife and the Karen preferably in an embrace.

Kudos to your wife. I would have had some choice words for her.

Exactly. My parents had no clue where I was most of the time at 8

I don’t think there is some magic number for a kids age where this is acceptable. However, during COVID I would have done the same thing; less people are out roaming and I’m not going to just expose my kids if I think they are mature enough.
Would it be ok if I was running in the pizza place to pick up my to go order? Where do you draw the line?
When are kids old enough to walk to school / ride their bike? Is there a magic number for that?

I also never said calling the cops was ok. All I said was that I wouldn't do this with my kid.

I stayed in the car a lot while my parents were getting groceries because I liked to ride along but didn't like being in the store. Of course sometimes I just stayed at home, and I guess that would get them arrested these days too. (I would have been around 4 or 5 then).
But they were never dumb enough to leave me in the car and leave the car running. That's nuts.

Back in the early 80s, patnuhs mamma left him in the Cutlass while it was running and he put it in drive and took off. I didn’t get far, but my days of being unattended were over.
Few years ago I ran inside Rouses in Mandeville and left it running with my lab in the back. Karen called the fuzz on me and I pointed out that it was running. Then she tried to tell me not to leave my car running unattended. I didnt wait around on the cops.

I don’t personally think your wife did anything wrong. But this day and age, I wouldn’t do it.
Yeah we rode in back of trucks and on tailgates and front seats and no seatbelts, etc. We had BB gun wars. I hear you. I get it . But unfortunately we live in a different 2020 world and our kids won’t get to experience the same (fun) stuff we did. We were left to roam the neighborhood and adjacent fields and woods at an early age. But they can’t do that anymore. It’s a shame. But yeah I wouldn’t trust anyone this day and age.
... similar story for me only involving my dog:
Couple years back, I took my dog in car for ride with me to grocery store which he loves to do. I ran into grocery store for literally only a gallon of milk. Left car running and was in the store for no time. I rushed down the aisle because I was paranoid of someone in parking lot thinking my dog was in danger. Sure enough, I hit self checkout and walk out in probably 3 mins or less and there was an old lady out by my car and mistook his barking for distress. In a mere 3 minutes time. I told her he was fine and showed her my single gallon of milk.
I’m the pussy I guess, because I've never taken him along for similar quick errand ever since because I don’t want to deal with shite like that anymore. Or some moron breaking my window in 2 minutes.

You don't have a kid, so you are obviously clueless. I figured you would have grown up a little by now BPT, but it appears you are still an immature shite.
If my kid is a good and smart kid that will always leave the car locked, and I live in a semi-decent society, why should I fear leaving the kid in the car? Yes, clearly some kids are too young or too bad for it, but if you have an 8 year old that minds their Ps and Qs, and doesn’t want to go into Walgreens and just listen to some of their favorite music, sorry, they should be allowed to. You’re a pussy helicopter parent. Let your kid get injured on their own accord and stop trying to protect them to the point of their own detriment. That only creates weak kids where society will later eat them alive.

When you remote start the car it cannot be put into gear.

1. You are admittedly mentally unstable and childless, why are you giving parenting advice
2. Given the facts above why do you think anyone would give a shite about your opinion?
