Why does Hydroxychloroquine get so much opposition?

Because they don't want this to end. At least until the election.

It is cheap and easy to produce. The jihad against this is strictly political and they have gone all in to not let Trump have a win of any kind.

Because Trump brought it up at a press conference during the height of the pandemic and touted it as a possible treatment.
Anything Trump says or does the mainstream media will take the opposite stance and turn it into a political issue. Also, the same deep state actors who are running the main stream media also run the big pharmaceutical companies. You can’t made any money on Hydroxycloroquine so therefor it has to be discredited!
Basically that’s it.

Big pharma is about the benjamins not helping people. Look how they fight hemp and MJ medical uses.

IMO, it's part big pharma and part OMB. Either way, it shows that the dims and the msm couldn't care less about saving lives and rebuilding the economy. Hydroxychloroquine should be reported as outstanding and very encouraging news, which would go a long way to calming over hyped fear.

It's not profitable for those who have their money invested in Gilead, Moderna, etc.

It’s stupid on both sides
Trump is doubling down that it works. All of the studies out there recently have said it doesn’t.
Dems are out there saying it’s a dangerous drug. As a doctor, I’ve prescribed it hundreds of times without batting and eyelash. The only real monitoring required is a yearly eye exam as there is a risk of retinal deposits.
So both sides are pretty ridiculous

Actually Tiger1014, we have known basically from the beginning that it is usually not effective when a person is very unhealthy to begin with and the treatment begins when the patient is at death's door.
So what do "we" do?
We give it patients that fit that exact description and declare the drug doesn't work.
Or, we make it even worse and we don't give the complete cocktail.
And the thing is, we knew that is what some of these "experts" were going to do before they did it.

Wrong. Have you read any studies at all?
P.S. What does "recently" have to do with anything?
Note: this is not to say it works every time with every case, but it has shown efficacy outside of critical care patients ie. vented patients.

Look at the deaths from oxycontin

Trump supports it and there is no way to show it works, and those who oppose Trump are smart enough to know there is no way to get a real study done in time before this all passes so even if Trump is right, it will be a dead story by the time he has the proof.

That is a lie.
It is the MSM/Dem narrative, but it is a lie.

Why did faucet say that we need at least a year of data with Hydroxychloroquine but then recommended Remdesivir just like that?
Posted on 5/24/20 at 7:24 am to TulaneFan
You know if Trump cured cancer and what not..,

I have read or reviewed the published articles for remdesivir, they are not that promising, particularly for critical patients. The article that was used to promote it had 8 deaths versus 11 for placebo.
Our hospital received 60 doses and the EUSA literature states it should be used for critical cases. Glad to have it but not confident it will help significantly in that patient population. To be fair HCQ will not help this demographic either. Too far gone, too many comorbidities.

They want this fear to last as long as possible, at least until November.

i was going to ask
it seems these studies are far too concerned with the meds as hail mary cures for people who would likely be on death's door after treatment if the meds worked
i've always been careful not to believe the HCQ hype but it seems people are promoting it more as a prophylactic measure or a way to combat the disease early to prevent it from being critical, like tamiflu. once you're outside of that window, it won't do nearly as much
