The love for glen Dorsey is just hard for me to understand. He was good, but was hurt constantly and never took over a game that I can remember

a top 5 Tiger all time imo

Burrow/Cannon/Casanova/Stovall/Faulk/Dorsey/Peterson/Mathieu

Top 5 is a tall order, lets just stick with best WR

Chase as a Freshman should have had a 50catch season for about 700yds but Ensminger and the old man passing coordinator had the worst substitution patterns at WR that I have ever seen.

Clayton played both sides of the ball.

Chase right now is the best WR this school has ever had.

I did. I thought having Mathieu in the top 10 (giving the poster the benefit of the doubt) was less egregious than saying Dorsey was good, but not great. Plus, I’m in my 30s and don’t feel confident in saying where players in the years before I was born rank.

I would call Clayton a great football player and a really good receiver.
I still think he would have been much better as a safety. He was not a great
route runner, which doomed his pro career, but he loved to hit people

yeah, you're right, top 5-10 is quibbling of semantics imo, the Dorsey wasn't great take is incredibly bad.

Mathieu is the best defensive player in LSU history

I do think Dorsey was a little overrated. He was clearly a monster as a SR, and while he was a 4yr contributor, there was kind of a slow burn to greatness.

Now LSU has some monster DL’s back then, but consider this; Dorsey was the best DL on the team only once, and that was 2007 as a SR.

Dorsey’s best year was his Jr yr, he won awards his Sr, a lot like Delpit was better as a Soph.

IMO Chad Lavalis is criminally underrated

Its ludicrous to try to name a top 5 all time Tigers list. There is 125 years of football spanning multiple eras and rules, offensive and defensive styles and various other factors. Billy Cannon's stats that won a Heisman trophy would be a good backup running back today.

The game can change lot even within one decade. We tend to magnify the current player if our experience is limited and we amplify the players of yester year who were our first gridiron heroes.

Having followed LSU football for half of its existence I could give an impressive list of the top 20 receivers and leave out another 10 to 15 that others could legitimately include My 20 would be:

Gaynell Tinsley
Wendell Davis
Josh Reed
Jarvis Landry
Michael Clayton
Justin Jefferson
Dwayne Bowe
Andy Hamilton
Jamar Chase
Carlos Carson
Reuben Randle
Buster Davis
Todd Kinchen
Orlando McDaniel
Brandon Lafell
Tony Moss
Terrace Marshall
Ken Kavanaugh
Early Doucet
Odell Beckham Jr

If I recall he opted to come back his SR year & his play really vaulted him far up the draft board
