25 or 6 to 4, What A Song

Chicago was huge with the band geeks when I was in high school, and I hardly gave their music the time of day.
Now, in retrospect, that was really dumb. This band was tight and incredibly talented. 25 or 6 to 4 is amazing, the guitar solo, the horns, the vocals and the arrangement.
If you haven't listened to it, here it is, turn it up LOUD.

Super fun song in Rock Band. Always played it.

Chicago is a great band minus those two fricking snoozers that ruined their image.

Late 60’s/70’s Chicago is incredible jazz rock fusion.
80’s Chicago corny synthy pop ballad garbage.

Liked the song, but never knew what the math meant.

One of the first guitar licks I learned to play back in the day. Kath's epic solo, still working on it -- yeah, that's it.

This is what David Foster did to them. It was all about the money. Women in the 80's LOVED the ballads.

I believe that it's the literal time when the song was written. It was 25 or 26 minutes before 4am.

From what I understand, the band was up late writing this song while drinking etc. One of the band members asked what time it was and 25 or 6 to 4 was the response. (25 or 26 minutes to 4:00am)

Incredible guitar solo by the late Terry Kath

We played a lot of Chicago when I was in the HS band. It's perfect for a marching band.

The Live from Tanglewood version really showcases their musicianship on this song. Kath’s solo unreal.

Like how the tech is working on Danny's drums but Terry starts off; Danny joins on the hi-hat, Bobby on the keys, Peter on the bass then it's off and running.
In the early days, that foursome was a damn good band. On songs that allowed improvisation live, Terry would lead them where to go but the rest of them had to jump in and follow. This is a good example of it starting at the 5:45 mark

Hendrix liked it also but I think he was on acid the first time he heard it (taking nothing away from the song, it is great)

this song is a shameless ripoff of greenday

I hate that they kicked Danny out for not keeping time. You're an effing jazz rock band of professional musicians. Everyone can keep the time.

I remember the first time I heard Brain Stew. My own brain was filling in the Chicago parts.
There are a few mashups out there but this one is far and away the best quality--plus they thrown in Zep's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" in the middle. The segue from Robert Plant's vocal to Terry Kath's guitar around 3:20 is awesome.
