My mother is 70. She has been isolated for a few months and following government guidelines. I asked her this morning what I could do for her for Mother's Day. She asked me to bring my family over to watch church with her on TV so here we are.

She said that she'd rather get the Rona than not see her children or grandkids on Mother's Day.

She made homemade blueberry muffins and coffee too

Yep. It's one thing that will take care of itself.

My mother in law and grandmother in law said the same weeks ago. Gmaw in law has already went back to tea and coffee with her lady’s group weekly. They are over it. They want to live their lives

If you’re not allowed to live, why worry about dying?

I'm somewhat friends with a 70 year old man who post in our hood facebook group. He proudly proclaimed last weekend that he was done. He's going where he wants, when he wants and is not wearing a mask. A few of the scared sheep started questioning him and proclaiming that they have friends that have died.

He shot back that he's read hundreds of articles and is comfortable with his decision and stated we all knew people who have died. When it's your time it's your time and only God can decide that. Told them if you want to keep believing the false information put out by the governor, that's your choice, but I'm going to live my life, visit friends, and see my grand kids.

My 75 year old mom and 80 year old dad have been walking 5 miles a day. They’ve pretty much said frick it, we’re in better shape and more active than a lot of people 30-40 years younger than us, we want to see our family.

I'm sure you think we should be shutdown until August per Msnbc guidelines.

I mean if I lived in Birmingham, I'd never want to leave my house either.

I just think the million threads where people say they don't care like it makes them some kind of badass or freedom fighter are hilarious

I never stopped seeing my daughter and family from the get go. Going to their house today and there will be close to 20 other family members. I am at high risk and had lived my life. And yes, I put my hands in God's faith as I had before.

Can't say I'd be any different. If I made it to 70, I've pretty much done it. You lived until you were "supposed" to. I'm much more willing to stay at home right now than I think I would be if I was in my 70s. When you get that old you know your time is running out. Why would you stay holed up instead of going to see your loved ones who likely give you more satisfaction than anything in the world.

This made me tear up. I guess just because it's something so small, but it probably made her feel so good to expect company for the first time in a long time that it feels like a huge gesture.

I'm glad you're getting to spend time with your mom today, and I know she's so happy to have you all there.

I posted weeks ago that the people I often see the most not social distancing are old boomers. The ones who have to come within 3 feet of me in a store, coughing up a lung. If they don't care, why should the rest of us?
