I have a 9 yr old Catahoula who's starting to move a bit slower, and in the mornings he's all achy but once he's "warmed up" he stops limping. But at some points through the day, if he's laying down a while, when he gets up he limps a little bit. What would y'all recommend for some hip and joint meds? I tried some fish oil pills, but I only did it for about a week. Should I continue that, or do y'all have some more recs?

My older dog has started with his hip. Best thing I ever used in the pass is Science Diet dog food for hip and joints. This is the second dog with this problem. My daughter, a Vet had got me some for free. I had started my dog on it about a week ago and he is getting around better already.

Only problem with this, SD cost a lot.

Cosequin Maximum Strength Joint Supplement Plus MSM - With Glucosamine and Chondroitin Amazon

I would give this and Omega 3s (try some salmon oil). I'd also get a prescription for an NSAID. No reason for the pup to be in pain.

All our dogs like this treat, can buy at WalMart
Not sure if it has enough glucosamine and chondroitin to make a difference but it can’t hurt in addition to something else

Watch what you buy from Walmart. If made in China, I wouldn't buy it. Do some research. They pull all kinds of crap in dog/cat treats.

Just got an Rx for NASID for my 12 year old...hips and knees are getting arthritis bad. Hoping to ease his pain for a few more years.

my 10 year old GSP has dysplasia in both hips. She still moves like a puppy though, only sore after running hard for a while now. I pour a teaspoon of this in her food twice a day.

Rimadyl
is great. They also make a generic that is pretty cheap. I use the generic with my older golden.
