Hoosiers
Hoop Dreams
Bull Durham
The Natural
Major League
Brian's Song
Friday Night Lights
Slap Shot
Chariots of Fire

Take your pick on which 3 edge out Tin Cup. Tin Cup is a good movie, but not top three.

It's definitely a "if it's on, I'm watching" movie.

were derived from actual things pro golfers have done, including John Daly, who nearly duplicated the scene at one of the majors (PGA I think).

I't a fantastic movie, but it's not top 3. The competition is too tough.

One of his approach shots rolls up to a few feet from the pin and rolls back into the water. It would never happen. That hole would be unplayable.

I believe that John Daly would do something like in the movie, but not in contention at a major.

Fair enough

Sergio Garcia did it at the Masters 2 years ago, on opening day when he was the defending champ.

Yeah the pin placement made no sense in the movie.

The announcers keep saying he has to get it above the pin but even if he did anything that rolled back toward the pin - if it doesn't go in the hole - just keeps rolling back down into the water.

When he finally holes it out, the ball is to the left of the pin and just travels right and back and goes right in...but if it doesn't go right in, it just keeps going back down the slope and into the water again.

But I guess that was the point, they wanted to make the hole so ridiculous that every rational person would lay up and chip it far over the pin.
