The Texas "re-opening" is pretty minimal.

Over in the Republic of Texas, their much discussed re-opening has...
Retail, restaurants, theaters, malls, etc at 25% capacity. Foot courts and play places (like the Chuck E Cheese and all the Monkey Joe type places) remain closed.
Public pools, bars, gyms, barber shops, salons, barber shops, bowling alleys, arcades, tattoo places, etc remain closed.
Outdoor sports allowed with a limit of 4 people playing together. So no baseball, soccer, etc.
Nursing homes still closed to visitors.
This isn't much different than now, especially since many places will not open as they can't make any money on 25% capacity.
This is such a minimal level of opening. Don't understand what the big deal is, and also don't understand why LA can't have this.

Where's that at? I miss my Eddie V's happy hour.

Guess you have to start somewhere/not piss off the Karens too bad...although it’s hard for a restaurant to bother re-opening dine-in when only 25% capacity is allowed.
I think it will be important for healthy, unfearful folks to get out there and show they are willing to go to places and put up with wait times to get in.
I have a reservation for my family at SaltGrass Steak House for Friday night.

I still don't understand how they can determine 25%- that has me puzzled...

This is basically nothing. Not much different than what we have. Could have just went this way to give people some hope. Guess it eliminates certain federal funding we are shooting for.

Ready to go check out the new Walk-Ons.
I've had take out, a few times, but ready to go inside.

just minor signs or returning to some normalcy, no matter how small they may be

Every one of these businesses has an occupancy permit which states the number of people that can be in the building. They take 25% of that.
Science.

Exactly. But it's all about getting the ball rolling so businesses can start lining up suppliers, contacting employees (hiring new if needed), gauging demand, etc.
The ramp up is going to take time, which is why delaying it is so absurd
This. Nobody was going to be able to flip a switch and make everythign instantly normal again.

The border between Texas and Louisiana looks like the border between West and East Berlin. Even more so since they have reopened.

but they are moving forward. It's not smart to totally reopen, but it's time to move forward

All those places and capacity increases occur mid-May, and unlike LA I doubt Texas will miss that target.

Yeah well it’s a start. I think it’s the best way to do it. Maybe a little more than 25%.
