I bet it counts as a Covid death.

Dr. Breen, 49, did not have a history of mental illness, her father said.
So basically she’s like most people who commit suicide.
There’s a reason suicide is so shocking to the family and loved ones of the deceased and it isn’t because they ignored the warning signs.

Hmmm... does this happen to coincide with the RN saying that docs were essentially “murdering” patients in New York?
Anna Pou scenario. Most plausible thing I've read in this thread.

Probably killed herself after not being able to live with the order of not resuscitating dying patients.

Every female ER doc, and most of the nurses, I have met had a screw or three loose.
Dude, read the OT. Every poster here has a screw or three loose, self included.

Kinda shocked at some of the replies, but I guess I shouldn't be.
Even an ER doc isn't prepared for the volume of sickness and death she saw, especially in such a compressed tine period.
Overwork, fatigue, and the inability to provide good resolutions for her patients probably overwhelmed her.
Prayers for her and her family.

He was not the top doctor.

Weird that they die with two gun shots in the back of the head. EVERY TIME this happens

I'm getting tired of hearing this shite. Going to work at a hospital in the U.S. beats any day in the trenches on the front line in an actual war.
Combat medics in training do rotations in urban ERs for the practical experience

That makes sense. A lot of patients with bullet wounds to patch up.

Yeap, and veterans have one of the highest rates of suicide per capita in our country.
I'm not saying what she did was excusable, psychological trauma oftens seems insurmountable whilst going through it.

Here's a hunch: whatever motivated her to run back home to VA is probably what motivated her suicide. I mean, surely this is not the time for someone in that position to either 1) take a vacation or 2) visit family.

This doctor didn't give a shite about the politics of COVID, or the attention. We need to respect that she did her level best to care for her patients and ultimately succombed to the trauma she witnessed. Happens all too often unfortunately

Perhaps she had to get away from what she faced in NYC?
WWI and WWII soldiers were often rotated off the lines to 'stay fresh" and avoid too much trauma sapping their combat effectiveness

Exactly.
No one knew her name before this; she obviously wasn't seeking attention.

Doctors are such attention whores right now.

So the OT hates doctors now.
They hate whatever doesn't fit their narrative at the moment. They even started bashing law enforcement slightly for enforcing social distancing. You know..."back the blue", blue lives matter bumper sticker people.LOL

Read some of the books about Ebola. And the doctors who were there from the beginning.
