If so, when?

I’m guessing yes and 2027.

Considering 2 sold extremely well the easy and short answer is yes, games with sales that good inevitably get sequels. But the full answer is more complicated.

RDR2 sold insanely well at first but its sales quickly dried up after a few months, which is the pattern you'd expect from a pure single player game. The online component of RDR2 never took off at all and that's where they were counting on long term profits from. Rockstar/Take Two were actually internally very disappointed by that aspect. They were expecting another GTA V type long term interest, which is why they invested so heavily in the game.

The game was an absolute monster to make, took years and a ridiculous amount of time and money. Is that level of investment something they will do again for a series that doesn't appear to monitize post release very well?

Eventually somebody will produce a Red Dead Redemption 3 or some other game bearing the RDR IP, but the odds of it being as large in scale and as big of a production are greatly reduced.

It will be about how John was conceived - and his mom will be the main character with her war torn baby daddy biting the dust at the end to kill a robo-Indian sent from GTAV bent on preventing John's birth

I can't imagine they won't go the DLC route - as long as they can price it well, that can sustain them during development of RDR3 which will almost certainly sell well - but it will have to be good. Those are big shoes to fill.

Now that it is on PC, I might finally give it a go.

Yes, but only in the non-existent camp that is "spawned" by hunting the non-existant animals, just before crashing to desktop every 5 minutes.

But there will be some weird hats in the catalog every Tuesday for cash.

I miss when Rockstar made single player games that didn’t need fluff multiplayer.

GTA Online has ruined Rockstar. They put out quality content, but it’s always some scheme to monetize an online component. Their release schedule is so much slower because of the resources they sink into online updates and maintenance. I used to love gta online but now I hate it because of what it has done to the company.

Can't blame them too much though. A company's job isn't to please it's consumers. It is to make money.

Far Cry
Red Dead
GTA
Assassins Creed
Borderlands
Metal Gear Solid

These series are always instant buys for me. Hope they continue

It's sad because RDR2 is one of my favorite open world maps in a video game and I'm sad it'll likely be almost a decade before we get another installment and then another year or two for a PC port.

I had to wait 9 because while I was a console gamer when the first came out, I went exclusively to PC gaming in 2013. I didn't get RDR2 until last December.

Because that's when it released on Steam.
