Coronavirus patients taking hydroxychloroquine, a treatment touted by President Trump, were no less likely to need mechanical ventilation and had higher deaths rates compared to those who did not take the drug, according to a study of hundreds of patients at US Veterans Health Administration medical centers.
quote:
“We performed a retrospective analysis of data from patients hospitalized with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection in all United States Veterans Health Administration medical centers until April 11, 2020,”
quote:
About 28 percent who were given hydroxychloroquine plus usual care died, versus 11 percent of those getting routine care alone.

I’m really getting tired of not being able to know a damn thing.

Pretty sure that it’s in there that the meds were started too late now already were on the vent. Earlier the better.

Maybe it’s because they only gave it to the patients who were worse off?
Fake news gonna fake news
From this very same article

"The findings should not be viewed as definitive because the analysis doesn’t adjust for patients’ clinical status and showed that hydroxychloroquine alone was provided to VA’s sickest COVID-19 patients, many times as a last resort."

Did you sleep for 3 days straight, wake up, read this article and come post it on TD?

This is going to make it a lot harder to price gouge the hydroxychloroquine I hoarded.

Actually sad.. I was hoping it would be a promising drug.

Was this study blind, or did they only prescribe hydroxy to the sicker patients?
It would seem since this is a retrospective study then they have no clue as to why the doctors decided to prescribe the drug when they didn't on others.
Maybe supply was limited so the thought was to preserve the drug and only use it in worst case scenarios. Worst case scenarios probably lead to more deaths, right?
Maybe I am missing this though
Or maybe that is why they did a press release on their findings even though it wasn't peer reviewed or published. And also since one of the leaders has some significant conflicts.
Not sure what the real results were, but frick this is a bad clickbait study.

Seems like people like to choose one study over another for whatever their reasons. Funny how every article about the bad outcomes love to trot out some comment about Trump. Wonder why that is.

We can’t let the facts creep in! Orange Man Bad!
Posted on 4/22/20 at 9:16 pm to CrimsonFever

Only if they make trump look bad.
Posted on 4/22/20 at 9:18 pm to CrimsonFever
because only the most ill get this treatment and they have a higher mortality rate anyway.
You're dumb.
You're dumb.

Conducted at VA hospitals where basic care sucks. Not double blind study, very small study group, and has not undergone peer review.

Wow
Another article by some media outlet trying to push an agenda. Don’t care if you are on or off the HQ saves lives side, one limited study means nothing.
Anyone can manipulate numbers into something that benefits their cause.

Well, at least in these studies everyone isn't dying. The obscenely high "cure" rate touted in the pro hcq studies were obviously bogus af, to anyone not wearing orange tinted glasses.
