Anyone have experience with the Florida state line check points? If they tell someone from LA to quarantine for 14 days what does that entail?

Should we just stick to Alabama for the time being?

We were planning on going to Rosemary so we will coming in all the way on I-10. Just don't want it to be more hassle than it's worth.

here’s hoping they open ST rentals

Short term rentals are allowed in phase 2. The confusion comes from the wording "vacation rentals SHOULD CONSIDER renting to only Florida residents".

It does not say must.

Where do you see this? The official Florida plan says “should rent to in state residents only” for phase 2. I don’t see the word consider anywhere.

Either way, it sounds like the owners now have the choice to rent to out of staters.

Yep, here is the exact guideline for Vacation Rentals in Phase 2:

"Vacation rentals should consider the following:

-Vacation rentals should open and operate for in-state reservations only (i.e. only Florida residents).

-Prohibit rentals to persons traveling internationally or from a state or locality with a substantial community spread of COVID-19.

-Maintain 72 hours between guest check-ins to allow for effective cleaning and disinfecting of the rental unit.

-Thoroughly clean and disinfect the property between rentals and post signage in all units detailing cleaning and sanitation procedures"

I agree it is subjective but I think the placement of consider in the lead in sentence is much different than in the rule.

But thanks for pointing out as I did miss that.

Bottom of p. 25

Vacation Rentals
Vacation rentals should consider the following:
Vacation rentals should open and operate for in-state reservations only (i.e. only Florida residents.)

Our management company via their legal counsel has advised them that they are free to rent to anyone once phase 2 begins unless the order is reworded.

Personally I have enjoyed the beach all to myself the last few weeks. We drove back home on Tuesday and will be heading back to the beach on Wednesday. I suspect we will have 2-3 more days and then the Summer crowds will descend.

We can usually gauge how crowded it will be based on the number of nights our 3 properties are rented and as of Monday, they are booked solid from May 30 through mid August.

I think keeping the wording vague would allow them to satisfy both sides of the argument.

I think it will be a very bad move to either totally extend the ban, or explicitly say no out of state rentals. It will cost the state untold millions not having stuff open for memorial day.

I just finished watching the governors press conference.

He did not talk much at all about rentals. He said that rental policies will be up to counties. They have to submit a plan to him for approval.

No timeline was given as to how long it would take to approve any plan and open things up.

Walton county submitted a plan earlier in the week asking him to remove the ban.

It's tarting to look like you turds are going to bring the crowds beginning memorial day weekend.

Well great. I’d really like to go ahead and book but I’m not risking passing a no refund date waiting on them to approve me coming down there.

I'm sorry to say I won't be contributing much sales tax as I try and bring everything possible so I never have to leave the condo/beach.

I'll fill up at Tom thumb on the way out
