That's gonna be a no from me dog. I can't fathom working on something like this:

"An oil worker in the North Sea has captured incredible footage of a floating oil rig. The largest and deepest offshore platform ever built called “Troll A” stands at about 303 m bellow sea level, and had a total height of 472m."

Viking dudes went through that in handmade longboats.

Sometimes.

Sometimes not.

I've been on a few North sea platforms. It ain't for the faint of heart. I had the pleasure of visiting the Aasta Hansteen in the northern Norwegian waters. Largest SPAR platform. Really impressive platform.

That video was edited for dramatic effect

Well my link won't work, look in the replies to that tweet for the unedited version.

The real video is much less impressive

I'm sick thinking about working on that... I will say, engineering genius whoever designed that thing.

That really wasn't that bad.

A hand would need jumbo truck nuts to work that.

Whole lot of Nope for me!

From what vantage point is this being filmed?

It seems like the videographer is standing on a structure that is not affected by the waves.

Troll A is not a floating platform. It has a huge concrete structure that sits on the bottom. My guess is that this video is of a floating service rig taken from the stationary Troll platform. Whatever the floating platform is it wasn't anchored and likely on a move or DPS. Offshore rigs are the most vulnerable while under tow/move. I was on a jack-up rig once that got caught in a really bad storm while under tow. We had 30 foot waves breaking over the top of the rig and the decks were swamped with 3-4 feet of water. A handful of us were allowed outside to check on the rig and keep the generators running. The rest of the crew were locked arm in arm in the living quarters with life jackets on. Those poor guys were getting slammed across the living quarters from one side to the other from the wave action. It was fricking terrifying.

My grandparent’s neighbor is an old man that worked on a tug back in the day laying pipeline in the North Sea. Heard enough stories. That’ll have to be a hard pass for me.

my dad was a company man for shell and worked in the north sea for 3 years. we lived in aberdeen. said it would get so cold and wet that if you stayed too long in one spot your boots would freeze to the floor of the rig.
