Buddy who? I missed out on this Maggio incarnation..he had so many.
Place was called Buddy's Seafood & Steaks, I think...IDK who Buddy was. And yes, Mark tried opening many places. They wouldn't last long even though business was decent.

Didn't Cippriani's open with Joey Distefano as Head Chef, then Don Gerald, bought it?
Were Ralph and Kacoo Olinde owners from the start, or at some point along the way?

chicken tenders with honey mustard
This was my go-to growing up. They had the best honey mustard.
It is funny how everyone is hating on Calender's but showing love to Shoney's(which I was a fan of also).

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the first salad bar I ever ate at (I’d never even heard of a salad bar before) was at a restaurant on S. Acadian. I believe it was in the hotel right there at S. Acadian and the interstate, it’s been under several different names. The restaurant was call Beefeater’s IIRC. Really good in its heyday!

Uncle Ben's Fried Chicken
Mirror Steak House (on Airline)
Wife loved Poet's
Frankie and Johnnys Fried Chicken in Denham
Silver Moon
For you Silver Moon fans, Momma now caters out of her house in North Baton Rouge. Google Seabell Thomas for the number. She loves hearing from her babies.

Joey may have been head chef at the startup now that you mention it. Word on the street was that Don got a bonus from Ralph and Kacoo when they sold R&K’s and that he used that money for his own restaurant. At least that was the rumor. All I know is he ended up with Cipriani’s and started working with Kleinpeters on a line of ice cream for them about the time Cipriani’s closed down.

any remember Abes BBQ at the end of George Oneal?
I was a server there, they had a cook named "Bing" that could cook up some damn good ribs!
I also used to work in the kitchen at Nooley's on Jones Creek Rd.

If you enjoyed eating cock roaches then Lafoneas was great

Chi Chi’s FTW! I remember the crayons, sitting in a booster seat, sopapillas, and getting the lime from Mom’s margarita.

La Fonda? You would sink a quarter inch in that mushy, sticky carpet. Figured I would get authentic Mexican malaria eating there (only went once).
Apparently it was a major restaurant at one time (1970s?). I've met many people that said they went there for special occasions!

Luther's Bar B Q. Isn't that the one Edwin Edwards owned or at least had an interest in? One in front of Cortana and another on Essen I believe.
And El Chico. Originally located inside of Corporate Mall and then moved outside of Cortana by Bennigan's. Put the garter belt on the margarita's.
