Some of these are prolly listed but:
Mirror Steak House - My parents would bring me here on my birthday as a kid (early 70's), First time I ever saw a live Lobster and where I learned proper restaurant etiquette.
Shakey's Pizza - The first real Pizza I think I ever ate. Going to eat here was quite the adventure with pitchers of black beer, Ragtime Music, Little Rascals and Laurel & Hardy movies. I ended up working there as teen in the late 70's......unitl me and my pals got busted drinking beer in the cooler....
Peking Gardens - Really good Chinese food, but the drinks were killer. Mai Tai & Zombie would phuck you up.
Brunet's Seafood - Just a locally owned neighborhood style Seafood joint. Nothing was really mind blowing, just good La. fare done right, in a casual atmosphere, for a good price.
ETA: La Rouge Garden - This was really a bar at the corner of Sherwood and Fla Blvd owned by Don Pedigo. He served Steaks, good thick Ribeys right of the grill for $10 and they were outstanding.

What was the name of the hot tamale place near Florida/N Foster? GOAT tamales.
That was the second location of Muffalato’s Hot Tamales on North Blvd. The original was more west on North Blvd in front of the Original Baton Rouge Clinic.

I wired that building. It was originally a Steak & Seafood place. Can't remember the name, maybe something to do with a huge live oak in the patio area. The owners took out a huge insurance policy on the tree, which I found amusing at the time.

You can still get that steak in Walker. His son, maybe grandson, has the recipe.

Former Tech football player. Probably learned to cook in Ruston.
Vernon Roger had a great little place off Bluebonnet for a while.

I worked for an AC/Refrigeration repair guy and one his clients was Calendar’s. After being in that kitchen, there is no way in hell I would have eaten there. I’m surprise the State Board never shut them down.

Was anybody else a fan of Porky's Pit? I'm talking about when it was in the little shack on the corner of Jefferson & Hoo Shoo Too (I think), before they opened a larger location in P-ville.
