Bech Press: Body Weight Standards............... Where do you fit in?

As always, I'm confident we'll see nothing but truth from the OT community in this thread. Below are average standards for American adult males.


Please post your body weight category and what level you can bench (untrained, novice, intermediate).

*148-pound body weight: 110 pounds (untrained); 140 pounds (novice); 170 pounds (intermediate)
*165-pound body weight: 120 pounds (untrained); 150 pounds (novice); 185 pounds (intermediate)
*181-pound body weight: 130 pounds (untrained); 165 pounds (novice); 200 pounds (intermediate)
*198-pound body weight: 135 pounds (untrained); 175 pounds (novice); 215 pounds (intermediate)
*220-pound body weight: 140 pounds (untrained); 185 pounds (novice); 225 pounds (intermediate)
*242-pound body weight: 145 pounds (untrained); 190 pounds (novice); 230 pounds (intermediate)
*275-pound body weight: 150 pounds (untrained); 195 pounds (novice); 240 pounds (intermediate)
*319-pound body weight: 155 pounds (untrained); 200 pounds (novice); 245 pounds (intermediate)
*320-pound body weight and above: 160 pounds (untrained); 205 pounds (novice); 250 pounds (intermediate)

Weigh 200, bench 265.

On the internet, I benched 600 a few times in college and could easily get back to that if I wanted to.

Dang, didn't even know we had one. And I don't know what a bech is, except I hear that word alot in female minority fights.

So the 198 category means between 198-219? I also don’t think you included the entire chart

What 220 pound person can only lift 140, which is basically the bar plus two plates? Is that legit? Even untrained I'd think a heavier weight is common.

This also strikes me as a weird scale. As body weight goes up, for the 319/320 pound range, for the average person shouldn't that be expected to be really bad weight? I'm not sure an average 320 fatty should be expected to lift more than a 220 or 242 pounder.

I weigh 206 and have (...had since I haven't been to the gym since early March) a 1RM of 195. Only been seriously lifting for about 8 months.

Weigh 195. Used to could bench 230 in the day. Think I could still do the 175 pounds (novice).

But all we do in class now anyway are push-ups and striking.

I can do the intermediate for my body weight with almost zero training
