quote:I will say this is just an example, and I don't always eat this healthy. I just attempt to abide by a calorie "budget" every day. Some days that may mean I eat tuna and crackers for lunch, vegetables and chicken breast for dinner. Other days that may mean I eat a slice of cheese pizza for lunch and a beef filet for dinner.
2 portions of vegetables, 1 portion of protein, maybe 1 portion of starch (depending on the day).
An example of a meal may be 2 cups of steamed broccoli, 5 ounces of grilled chicken breast, 1 yam patty.
I do also fast intermittently, not because I think that it helps me lose weight necessarily, I would just rather skip breakfast and split my "budgeted" calories between lunch and dinner.

1) 80/20 rule: 80% whole foods 20% processed foods
2) Portion Control
3) Some form of exercise daily - 30-45m walk, stretch out afterwards. Ideally you should be doing some form of strength training, even if bodyweight, at least 3x a week on top of this.
4) Limit alcohol intake to 2-3 drinks per week
Through this shutdown I have done most of this except eating out a little more and drinking a lot more ( ) but have maintained weight
As for weight management the #1 thing is calorie control.

High fat, low carb/low to no Gluten diet.
Work out 5-6 days a week.
Still look like I did in my 20s

If health is your concern and losing/gaining weight has nothing to do with it, than I would say just try to avoid fatty meats, refined sugar and fried foods.
Try to get at least half of your daily carbs from vegetables and fruit. And eat at least 30 grams of protein per meal but shoot for 50 grams (assuming you eat 3 meals a day)

I eat only meat.
I love meat, just put it in me.
Also do eggs daily. No fruits or veggies, just ground beef, steak, fish and eggs.
Helped me lose a ton of weight.

The human body does not require red meat and cow milk to thrive. That is your government at work changing the food pyramid to fit its financial desires.
Eat plants and on rare occasions, fish and lean meats.
Blue Zone is not a diet (even though I called it that for shorthand purposes). It is a lifestyle that leads to excellent health.
