I’m using it as time to catch up on a ton of stuff.

i busted arse the month or so prior to everything shutting down to catch up, so i don't have major case-related issues

my main issue was the aforementioned trial, but that's gone so it's just jacking off waiting to get my new court dates for all the clients i had lined up the past 3 weeks

i can do admin stuff, but it's tedious

I wonder if the usual chiropractors are seeing new plaintiffs, I mean patients.

had one set in mid-May and contacted opposing counsel once the LASC shut things down on 3/22 to get her to agree to pass b/c of deadline issues that were now on the horizon. i don't know why your client wouldn't want to do something similar if they don't want you to bill right now

I wonder to what degree civil trials/matter scheduled for this summer are going to be pushed due to the inevitable backlog of criminal matters now currently on hold? In most courts the judges handle both and I could see a situation where the court decides to take a civil jury week to try a criminal case of a person sitting in jail a few extra months because his April/May (maybe even June) jury trial got continued because of this.

I've had a hard time meeting billable requirements. No appearances, most deps are off, as others have said. I have some motions to extend discovery but a lot of what I'm billing is just to make hours, the actual clients (insurance companies mostly) will probably cut it. Which is fine, they do that anyway.

That reads a hell of a lot like “I am making shite up to keep my job and maybe the clients will pay and maybe not.”

It could be the stuff that’s borderline clerical that the insurance companies sometimes cut.

We've been busy prepping for the COVID-19 class actions that will be coming up in the second half of the year. We already have a couple of commercials in the can, ready to go.

Nah, it's relevant stuff but a lot of it is things like review of medical records and what not. Things that aren't usually a priority got pushed up the list for lack of other things going on.

The carriers vary widely by how they review bills too. Things that others consider clerical some consider legal, vice versa.

Not a lawyer but we do business that requires access to the courthouse quite a bit. It's just the opposite for our clients. They don't understand why we can't get stuff done right away.

oh yeah it's going to be a shite show all around

i don't see how the Nola area is up and running into June at least, so I'm curious how the LASC handles it for everywhere else
