i live in Texas and i can assure you that he flamed out in the NFL does not in anyway affect how UT fans feel about Vince

Of all the stupid things he's said, saying LSU fans will be distraught if Burrow doesn't succeed in the pros is by far the most stupid. Its also rather telling about him

I won't be able to watch replays of the games in the future if Joe is a bust. It would just be too painful.

Hanagriff and Ott were just playing highlights from the OU game, i keep thinking, 403 yards in the first half and 7 TD, whoopie do, just a system QB

I don't really know how you can say that

Danny Etling had senior year DJ Chark, Guice, D. Williams.

A lot of overlapping talent between 17 and 18 that didn't really do much either year.

Neither Matt Mauck nor Matt Flynn did shite in the pros.

I have deleted those joyous memories from my head.

This is my 2 cents.

First, I think Burrow is the #1 pick unless a team that doesn't need a QB trades in. Tua is the only one who could come close in resume and measurables, and the injury ends that.

There is a subset of LSU fans that has trouble with Burrow being scrutinized like other prospects. His junior year was not close to #1 pick levels. That doesn't mean he isn't a #1, but that when you scrutinize guys, it isn't a positive for him.

It doesn't mean he's a system guy, but asking questions like whether it was a one year thing...that's what happens with all draft prospects.

Now that is a reasonable response, thank you

I 100 % agree, i was savaged myself for saying Burrow doesn't have an elite arm i will only add that fans being defensive about their guys in the pros is not limited to Burrow or LSU fans

Cincinnati should keep veteran Andy Dalton

No, Big Red's past whatever his prime was and only serves to hold Cincy back at this point

trade back to get more quality picks

quote:

There's a good chance a team would give Cincy a few picks, including an additional first-rounder, to move out of the No. 1 pick. I would REALLY consider making a deal like that if I'm the Bengals.

I mean you have to at least entertain it but I think teams making these offers for the right to draft Burrow reflect greatly on how great Burrow ensures to be as a pro quarterback, Cincy's sitting on a winning ticket

quote:

The Bengals should draft a quarterback with the first pick, but contrary to popular opinion, I'd take Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa

So instead of a quarterback who has demonstrated and exhibited great leadership over the last two seasons, possesses charisma that teammates gravitate to, and executed at an elite level in the clutch, Hall advises a quarterback who has not executed well in the clutch since his first meaningful appearance in the 2017 title game and whose most recent season ended with yet another injury? Fascinating

quote:

Now fully cleared to compete without any restrictions

Doesn't mean anything, has a pre-existing injury history

quote:

according to the agency that represents him

unless this agency's the most unethical agency of all-time, Tua definitely wanted this out for the spin factor

quote:

Tua brings so many dimensions to an offense and his style would fit well with the weapons around him

And Joe didn't with all his accurate deep throws and effective scrambles for yardage against elite defenses?

quote:

Joe Burrow
quote:

lost a QB battle to Dwayne Haskins at Ohio State

The relevance of this to the argument the Bengals should take Tua is? One could argue that experience was formative and inspired and motivated Joe's great LSU performance. Since that, Joe trended in an incredibly positive direction and grew as a leader. Didn't this guy ever read the account that MJ was cut from his high school varsity team in favor of a no-name? Gimme a break.

quote:

And Haskins might not even be the QB1 in Washington this year.

There's no logical nexus between this statement and the argument for Tua, just a red herring

That would be such a Bengals move. Draft a player that's made out of glass, hell, broken glass that has been pieced back together, number 1 overall.

Pretty sure none of them hyped him up to be the best pro prospect of his draft, much less of all time which is exactly what LSU fans have done with Burrow. And comparing his situation with Young’s is laughable.

Your boy will be the number one pick. Good for him. But all of these insecure posts trying to discredit anyone, particularly those who have been players/coaches/GMs, are just sad and reek of a desperation for validation.

If you don’t care what he does when he leaves LSU then why are you all so desperately trying to convince others that he will be a success?
Why are you so vested in it?

Yeah the Bengals really should trade back. The haul they could get moving back makes it all worth it. Seems like every time a team goes all in on trading up for a QB in a draft, the team that gets the haul winds up benefitting in the long run (rams, San Fran, Colts)

Lol well first off that’s not the scenario, the Bengals wouldn’t be trading up. You’re so desperate to justify your bias you’re making up situations that don’t exist. What’s also obvious is that you haven’t watched much of Burrow. If you did you’d know why he’s a can’t miss prospect but you really are clueless about what makes him great.

Did you forget who had the #1 pick in the 2006 draft? the entire run up to the 2006 draft in Houston was dominated by draft talk and most of the fans wanted the Texans to take Houston native VY. Some (Aggies mostly or non UT poeple wanted Reggie Bush) He scored a game winning TD in OT for the Titans that next season in Houston and at least half the crowd was cheering, trust me i was there, look at this video, note the guys in the crowd in #10 Texas jersey's high fiving

LINK

yes Texas fans thought VY would be a superstar in the pros, thought he should be the #1 pick and no they don't give a frick that he flamed out. The notion that you think LSU fans will be upset in Burrow fails is bizarre and could not be more wrong.

You keep saying all, like the fans you encounter on here represent the entire fanbase. Message boards aren't real

Anyway, of course most fans want to see the players from their school do well in the NFL, that's natural, that doesn't mean it will affect how they view him as an LSU player if he doesn't pan out. The 2 are not related. If he doesn't pan out, it will be several years from now anyway, so everyone will have moved on but they will never forget 2019.

That’s like saying Florida fans think less of Danny Wuerffell because he wasn’t a great NFL player. We’ve had a number 1 pick bust before, Jamarcus Russell, it didn’t tarnish his LSU following at all. Most every LSU fan has him still as a top 3/4 QB ever at LSU, just like before he was drafted. That guy is either a troll of clueless.

someone who's greatest thrill in life will be coming to a message board to tell anonymous college fans their school's greatest player became Alex Smith and he was right, really has no business calling others insecure. That reeks of desperation not college fans defending their guy. You are the one seeking validation.

The thing is, there are some LSU fans that only root for LSU fans and will be disappointed if Burrow is a bust

But what this retard is angling for is discrediting Burrow as a college QB if he’s a bust. Which of course is stupid as frick

He will say Weuffle wasn't a top draft prospect which is true. To me by far the better comp is Vince, Texas fans worship him, despite what this moron says they definitely argued he should go #1 and ragged the Texans mercilessly for a couple of years afterwards

Not only do they not care he didn't pan out in the NFL, they blame Jeff Fisher. Which brings up another point i hadn't thought of before. If Burrow fails, a lot of people will just blame the Bengals, it is a shitty franchise, hell i have a friend that still says, if JaMarcus was drafted by anyone but the Raiders, he would have done better.

But this idea he has that LSU fans are trying to validate Burrow and if he fails in the pros it makes him a "system" QB and lessens the 2019 seasons is beyond stupid
