I think after all this is said and done we're going to figure out that cultural issues like smoking, population density and immigration are going to be the most telling. Maybe the crazies in NYC will stop trying to import every damn foreigner they can find.

Yes but their numbers are creeping up along with the amount
of cases.

The left testing and lab work up to the states.

Japan is a far,far bigger mystery.

Only 62 deaths in country of a 128 million? And one of the highest rated of population density in the world.

They aren't doing a massive amount of testing or closing down the country.

Seems to be a mystery to so called "experts"

Problem is you don’t know the true “total cases” in each country. So these number are somewhat arbitrary.

All testing being equal,we’d have the second lowest mortality to anywhere in the world. While also having the most cases.

We’re doing pretty well. Comparatively.

Countries that are testing more will have more confirmed positives and thus larger denominator in the deaths/confirmed cases fraction. In order for this chart to have more clarity they should add either the number of test completed during the same time period or the % of tests that are positive during these periods.

According to the WoM site

NOTE ON FRANCE DATA:

On April 2, France reported 884 additional deaths that have occurred in nursing homes over the past days and weeks [source]. The French Government did not include these deaths in their official count, as their count only takes into consideration deaths of hospitalized patients. Following international standards of correct inclusion, our statistics will include these deaths, and will add them to the April 2, 2020 count following the attribution criteria of date of report.

If and when the French government determines and communicates the correct distribution of these additional deaths over time, we will adjust the historical data accordingly. A similar issue took place on February 12, when China reported an additional 13,332 new cases in a single day due to a change in how cases were diagnosed and reported in Hubei.
