“You people”? You mean freedom-loving Americans? I haven’t been to church myself for years, but would defend to the death the right of people to worship how they choose.

I'll agree that government shouldn't have to do this. People should have enough common sense and discipline to stay the hell away from large crowds during a pandemic anyway. The problem is they don't so what should we do about it?

They don’t realize that making themselves a story right now is only going to disenfranchise the next potential generation of church goers just a little bit more. Maybe that pastor can squeeze just a little more coin out of his aging congregation by making a big stink though!

No doubt.

No idea what that has to do with what I posted, but that’s true.

give us a one paragraph summation of time, place and manner restrictions and then we can continue on with the conversation.

Any church that is ignoring a global pandemic and still encouraging their congregation to gather in person right now....is not a church one should associate with.

If your church is doing this....should tell you that you need to find another church.

lotto tickets are not a scam.at all.

people know its more likely to be struck by lightning than win the powerball but eventually someone wins.

the scam about jesus is the bogosity that believing Jesus was killed as substitute for your failure to transcend original sin so then you get into the heaven. a pile of nonsense upon more goofy stuff.
1. original sin. gotcha.
2. substitute sacrifice. sure!
3. get into heaven just for accepting 1 and 2 above.

We’ve restricted more than peyote my friend. If you need me to point that out for you, then not only are you a part of the problem, you’re beyond my ability to reason with. Best of luck to you.

The fact that you continue to talk about peyote tells me you aren’t capable of the type of thinking necessary to do any type of legal analysis or really any abstract thought.

So continue to spout off on the internet about protecting the Constitution but leave the actual governing to the adults. Remember to obey your commanding officer and wear gloves while working traffic detail at the food bank

We get more authoritarianism from the government in our lives when people do not use common sense and use their freedoms responsibly.

It's that simple.

Thank you for making it clear that only one of us has ever held the title “Commanding Officer”

ETA: I just realized you’re one of those dudes who upvotes all of your own posts while downvoting the guy you’re disagreeing with...

and thank you for making it clear only one of us is an actual, practicing lawyer conversant with the Constitution beyond the literal words on paper

Holy shite. This is how dictatorships start- a willingness to give up one’s (God-given) rights for a little “protection”. I’ve devoted my entire adult life to supporting and defending the constitution- I will not stop now

This is stupid. You are simply being asked to stay on lockdown. It is a temporary situation in order to stop the spread of a virus that is killing some people which of course is a problem, but the reason they are trying to limit the spread is because of resources and prevent having hospitals from overflowing.. And if people can't get treated because there are too many people already in the hospital then that increases the risk dying for people who would have been able to overcome it if they were able to be put on a ventilator.

But there are selfish jackasses like you who sees this as a constitutional issue and don't have the common sense to see that this is bigger than just YOU.

The bigger issue is the precedent we set when we allow the government to curtail our freedoms because they’ve determined there’s an “emergency”. If you can’t see the danger in that I can’t help you.

Were you this upset when the President declared an emergency and took money that Congress had not appropriated?

Link me to your concerns you expressed then.

I was concerned, but less so since the actions taken were to secure the border, not to shut down commerce, freedom of movement of US citizens, and our 1st Amendment rights. So no, you will not find any posts from me objecting to the actions of the President then. Do not, however, infer that I am a huge Trump fan.

Chris- I get it but again, we’ve ruined 10 million lives over this thing (see the unemployment reports). To save how many? (Who were in hospice or very sick anyway?). As for me, I’m lucky. I’m staying home chatting with you dumbasses, with no financial concerns. No issue volunteering to do my part - but the willingness of Americans to subject themselves to these mandates like sheep concerns me.
