My sarcasm and point didn’t land apparently.

Yeah, with all the horrible posts and trolling, you really need to kick up the sarcasm for it to get through now.

I think it's important to note that all of these "dire predictions" are based upon taking no measures / measures all failing.

So when JBE says "we are going to run out of bed space by X date" what that really means is, hey, we quickly have to find more bed space. Which is exactly what has happened. We've taken measures to add beds / free up beds.

The reality is, those dire predictions force people into action.

I know some nurses that left Alabama to take temp jobs in NYC. They are making lots of money. That being said, the company that hired them, also provides their housing. They rented an apartment for them thru Airbnb. When their Asian neighbor saw them in scrubs, he pitched a fit. He didn't want them possibly bringing the virus back to where he lives. The company was forced to move them due to that person's complaint. They were told to expect the same thing at the next place they move into.

BTW......the complaining neighbor didn't speak English. They said, most where they put them, don't either.

Sounds like the hospital put them in shitty neighborhoods.
Where the frick did they put them Queens?
We have nurses and Drs in our building and no one is complaining (and we are pretty friendly with the door man since he loves the dog)

At 7pm everyday people from their balconies go out and clap/whistle/cheer etc for all the health care workers. It’s an amazing thing to see.

Also let me add , i wasn’t saying the Hospitals aren't having carnage. These issues just aren’t spilling into the entire city and making the place look like the zombie apocalypse

see my previous post. Hospitals are receiving federal funds for COVID treatments. I doubt the Government lets any hospital "fail" because of this.

The fairly large hospital my friend works at, in Alabama's "hotspot" has 4 Corona patients. The rest of the hospital is way below their census average for this time of the year.

How much federal funding would a hospital get for 4 Corona patients needing treatment? I doubt the Feds let hospitals fail, but one major hospital can't afford their share of 401K contributions TODAY. That should be eye-opening.

I don't know, but from their description of their neighbors, sounds like Chinatown.

My friends hate it there and are now wondering if the big $$$ is worth it. Just passing along what I was told.

Nurses are used to getting to watch movies on their tablet during night shift. Now they have to actually do longer rounds and are ill about it.

Or Queens which has a ton of Asians
Either way, the hospital giving them apartments probably cost 1200 a month
Real shite holes

If they’re making big $$$ they should probably just pay out of pocket a bit to live in a better area.
Although they may wanna walk to the hospital. Which one?
Always trying to help out a health care worker, they’re doing a great job during this

Someone I went to school with who's a general surgeon says it's been very slow for them since all elective and even semi elective surgeries have been cancelled.

True. I meant the good news was the peak was within sight and possibly manageable. The model I posted, I believe, is taking into account reduced cases do to the shutdown. Therefore they lowered the projected peak and moved it up a day. I don't think moving it a day one way or the other is a big deal. I'm just happy to see the lower numbers.

Don’t forget medsurg. We have three covid units at the hospital I work at in Nola just for medsurg, plus our covid icu and then icu overflow. We may not be at capacity but it’s pretty close.
