Didn’t you treat a patient effectively using hydroxychlorquine and z pack?

The original patient I was talking about deteriorated and is basically in purgatory on the ventilator. I think they got to us a little too late for it to make much impact which is why I said what I said earlier.
Some hospitals won't pull the trigger on it because we have such a limited supply, they wont let us use it until a test comes back confirmed +, 3 days where I am.
By that time a lot of damage has already been done

That is what I was thinking, when I was training I was doing about 10 miles a day. Hate running now
Advice from a guy who hated running too. Now, running is not an enemy and allows me to eat or drink whatever I want and stay at a healthy weight.

I figure we shake out about what H1N1 did, maybe a little less.
You think there are only going to be 12,000 deaths in the US from this thing?

If you are in the group of people who thinks this is being overblown and it is no worse than the flu, what threshold has to be crossed for you to change your mind?
More than the 34,000 that died from the flu in the 2018-19 flu season.

I don’t think the health problem is overblown. I believe there are areas of the country that are not prepared for a Sudden influx of patients that need ventilators, and the hospitals in certain areas could be inundated. Do i believe that the death toll from the virus will be in the millions in the US- no. Do I think it’s dangerous to suddenly have to have a concentration of lots of patients who need ventilators and ICU treatment. Yes. It’s dangerous bc there’s already steady supply of people who need that kind of life saving care for other reasons.
Do I think it was necessary to take a pause to try to slow that down in concentrated areas? Yes. We did not have enough information to make any decisions without giving ourselves some time to figure out where it was and where it’s going.
Extending these restrictions nationwide once Fauci/Birx CDC have enough data to know where it’s concentrated would be an overreaction and overblown. It would create more problems than it would solve.
I think international travel should be restricted indefinitely, as well domestically to and from affected areas. That includes within my own state. I also think restrictions should be placed on at risk populations based on age and whatever preexistimg conditions the Docs think pose greater risk of death if infected.
I think the plaquenll - Zpac is gonna work, and that will calm everything down.

Are you in Alabama?
I have a family member that just received her + test today. She is later 30’s and is located in Pelham near Birmingham.

How many lives are worth 3-5 Trillion dollars and another Great Depression but worse? Between the bailouts and wealth lost, and economic impact that may be what we are looking at. All to save mostly 80 year olds or fat diabetics.

Serious question to those who feel this is being overblown
It's obviously not nothing. But, what is overblown is the reaction.
quote:Why would I change my mind?
If more people die from this than a bad flu season would that change your mind, if not, what would? Or are you of the opinion that nothing could change your mind?
I'm not sitting here ignoring the consequences of the "cure".
There is no such thing as "at all costs" in this situation.

Not depression, destruction.

as i have had to say numerous times, it's not about virus to virus comparison. it's about response to response comparison. given prior outbreaks, this outbreak, at this time, doesn't seem to warrant the extreme response. this virus is selective in who it choose to hit the hardest and has almost exclusively confined itself to a literal handful of hotspots. now, the la media is questioning the actual numbers in one of the worst hotspots, nola. equipment is sitting unused in the biggest hotspot. dem govs are banning known good remedies.
no reasonable person would fail to connect the dots. i'm not saying the virus isn't bad. i'm not saying there shouldn't be a response. but there is no question liberal democrats are politicizing and sensationalizing this issue. if we continue to keep the country closed, there won't be resources for the healthcare system to operate for anyone for anything. this is an unsustainable response

Overblown. It's been here. Was way more prevalent in December, January and February. No test available. Want to see numbers appear? Create a test and demand for something that is already spread amongst us. Numbers are going up because we are just getting significant numbers of test available nationwide and there is still an 8-10 day delay on results.
Is the current test for antibodies? Would it detect if someone had it months ago and didn’t know what it was? Could these be many of the people they are claiming are asymptomatic?

quote:What is being overblown is the importance of a few citizens compared with the survival and health of an entire nation. Wars are fought and people die for their country. But if the enemy is a virus, sacrificing the nation to save a minuscule fraction of the population's individuals is somehow deemed acceptable.
Serious question to those who feel this is being overblown
I bring that up, not as a critique of the current approach, but rather as an observation of skyscreaming media induced panic over the fact we are contemplating how to begin unwinding the US shutdown.
Americans are being whipped into trembling-knee white-knuckle fear. It is a fear that Trump would audaciously suggest a county by county easing back to normalcy, as the future situation allows. Apparently the preference would be to let the country sink into a 2nd Great Depression.
We need to do all we can to ensure health of Americans AND America, in balance.

So the CDC revised their flu death number of 61,200 down to 34,200 (according to the article you linked)? That’s a hell of a revision!
It sure doesn’t inspire much confidence that the CDC knows what it’s doing.
The article I linked also said flu deaths in 2017/2018 were 79,400. Was that also revised by half?
So, I’ll revise my answer to the OP’s question: if deaths from CV-19 exceed 50,000 (which is a little under the average number of flu deaths per flu season of 2017/2018 & 2018/2019) then I’ll change my mind about CV-19 not being as bad as the flu.

I would honestly be interested to see how’d feel if I contracted this.
