Honestly a 1% of the population eath toll I think it could become an issue to discuss, that's 7.5 million people, less than that... tough shite.

So, I’ll revise my answer to the OP’s question: if deaths from CV-19 exceed 50,000 (which is a little under the average number of flu deaths per flu season of 2017/2018 & 2018/2019) then I’ll change my mind about CV-19 not being as bad as the flu.

100,000 people are infected and about 300/day are dying right now. that is going to keep going up at least in the near-term.

over an 8 month period, 300/day is 72k deaths.

Overblown is putting it mildly if we are comparing it to he 1918 flu pandemic. 675,000 in The USA died that flu season. And the population was a third of what it is today. Overblown if you compare it to the 2018 flu season or what has become the normal death toll each flu season in America. Upwards of 60,000 Americans died just a couple years ago in that flu season. And the average is around 36,000 per year. With a vaccine.

The total death toll in the USA is around 16 HUNDRED so far for this CV. That's not to say this is not a serious circumstance but it is obviously nowhere near as serious as the effect the flu has had on America. At this point. And being a virus it is almost assuredly seasonal. With a vaccine it should become even far less of a threat. Now it could mutate I suppose.

So what happens in ventilator purgatory?? Serious question. What’s the next step for those directing their care?

she should get it as soon as is feasible if someone will give it to her and she is in a moderate-high risk category

You think there are only going to be 12,000 deaths in the US from this thing?

What do you think there will be?

if we have plenty of vents, we let them sit on it and continually try to wean them to see if they improve

if we run out of vents... a decision is probably made.

I will preface that statement with saying we have very little reliable data to support its use but its pretty much all we have.

if it could lessen the severity of her course even a little, its worth it if she doesnt get bad side effects

I think I was told here that the test for antibodies isn’t ready yet.

Something can be serious and ALSO overblown by the media, government and all the Karens.

^^This

Yes it is a serious worldwide health issue

No, it is not serious enough to trash the US Constitution and Bill of Rights

Which wouldn't even BEGIN to justify the current actions.

If you are in the group of people who thinks this is being overblown and it is no worse than the flu, what threshold has to be crossed for you to change your mind

Are you aware Dr Fauci said this week that if we knew the true number of those infected (including the asymptomatic) the mortality rate of Co19 could be equal or lower to the flu?
