Just a snippet:

quote:

We’ll get no BREAKING NEWS alerts for the regular flu deaths (so far this season, more than 23,000, compared to 533 from the coronavirus).

Nor for the more than 3,000 people who die every day of heart disease or cancer. No alerts for the hundreds who die each day from car accidents, illegal aliens and suicide.

Only coronavirus deaths are considered newsworthy.

Trump has done all he could. We have to be in it, to win it, now.

I am generally not too concerned about catching someone's cancer.

Complete Denial on Day One or Blind Panic Now
Does anyone wonder what about the American psyche renders the majority of us incapable of NOT responding to any stimulus in the most excessive manner conceivable?

If we started a fuss about this, the meat & dairy industry would raise hell because they the ones causing the majority of these deaths. And politicians don't want to piss off the people putting money in their pockets...but Coulter likely already knows that.

There has to be an event that exceeds the magnitude of CV and breaks the 24/7 news cycle. That event is hidden in a thread on this board with >100,000 posts.

Anyone who compares this to the flu clearly doesnt understand COVID and risks appearing ignorant for coming out as righteous for something they know little about.

While not old enough to remember the Spanish Flu, my old man did.

Spanish Flu had a 2% to 4% death rate. Although small it killed between 20 million and 100 million before it was finished. The fear is real if this has similar kill rate.

2 - 4 % = China Flu kill rate
.001% - .01% = Regular flu kill rate

If you don't know or understand the difference and the implications you need to talk to a person who does.

To get panic down, you need to have more data - about community prevalence, who gets more severe illness & why, what you might do to treat.

They're obviously doing the research in clinical treatment. As for prevalence, I suppose you could either test a helluva lot more or run natural experiments in localities (which seems like will be the de facto approach) at running social atoms back out there at each other and try to infer the community prevalence from clinical populations, but the latter doesn't seem as ethical as it comes at an awful lot of risk to our seniors.

Trump announcing his resignation would be a nice first step.

This article was published yesterday:

Today the death count stands at 1,177 and was over 1,000 yesterday. Was this article written 3-4 days ago?

Turning off Fo- News would flatten the curve of ignorance. It’s like watching a dog chase his own tail every time I see a thread title with Hannity or Coulter in it.
