We went from “this is war” to “how much do you even love your grandparents anyway?” real quick

You have no idea what he is basing this off of, and you are claiming that he is not weighing any of this on actual data. That's fresh.

I've read some really retarded shite on here over the years, but this is up there.

I'm not trying to be a dick to you...

But you do realize your brother is not just at risk from COVID19, right? There are MANY things out there, most of which have a cure, that could still kill him due to his poor health.

I feel bad for your brother, but without a functioning economy the quality if care available to him will plummet and he will be endangered anyway.

Look, this is a hard choice for all.

I have a brother who has congestive heart failure. He can live a nice long life with it. However, if he gets the corona virus, he'd probably die. He's 53 and other than his genetic heart condition, he's in pretty good shape. Right now, like the rest of his firm, he's working from home.

If we don't combat the corona virus NOW, people will just keep spreading it around (with many getting it multiple times and subject to multiple 14-21 day quarantines) for years.

People like my brother and the elderly will be required to work from home. Will firms and companies be required to retain these people? Will they be subject to the protections of the ADA?

These are hard questions and I don't believe that there is any "right" answer.

I don't see where grinding every healthy person to a halt indefinitely is a better solution than having your brother and similar situations figure out a better way forward for them with their respective employers. That seems like it would fit everyone's needs far better.

There was never a chance for a high body count.

We should have never changed anything. This is no different than anything else that can kill you. The media has mad us afraid of some invisible magical thing out there. It's all BS to hurt Trump

2-3 more weeks of this max. Enough time to bend the curve in hot spots and get critical resources in place. It then becomes manageable and we start rolling out opening back up.

This economic shutdown is unsustainable and will become a bigger problem.

DJT is right. The flu will still be much worse statistically than Whu Flu, and nobody ever hyperventilated about the flu. The Government is pissing away too much money on a band aid solution. This economy has to go back to work.

I’ve been disappointed with the lack of bookmark-worthy posts this election year. Thanks for helping out.

so it is irrelevant what he thinks or says.
I don't agree that it's irrelevant - I think the tone from the top matters. Of course some of the governors will trip over themselves to virtue signal by going against whatever Trump says on this. But on balance, I think it would be helpful.

Not a single person thinks this. That is reductio ad absurdum.

But, the country absolutely should begin reviving back up by then. Most here know I adore my father. I’m unwilling to have the engine of the US economy sit in idle just because he might not fair well with this virus. We will continue with the precautions. But, we must get going. The breadth of this response has been ridiculous
