I wash every piece of produce I eat with soap and water because those frickers have been handled by so many people.

A virus could be transferred by pure contact BEFORE you eat it. An old person picking up produce with their hands to bag it, even if they eventually plan to wash it and eat it, could infect them.

Soap? What kind of soap? We talking Dawn or some all natural stuff? Seems like it could soak in to some things.
I just rinse with water, and may scrub root vegetables a bit.
