This message from Gov's Office released 2 hrs ago says otherwise

Subject: Dispelling Rumors
Mr. President, Mr. Speaker, and Members of the Legislature,
We are receiving lots of inquiries about whether the Governor is going to require the state to shelter in place. Please take note of the following facts:
· There is no current plan to require citizens of the state to shelter in place.
· The National Guard is being deployed to help with sites that have been set up to house persons who are awaiting test results and do not have a place to stay, to help stand up drive-thru testing sites, and to help evaluate structures that may serve as temporary hospitals to support the medical surge we anticipate.
· The National Guard has NOT been deployed to invoke martial law.
· Local governments have the ability shelter in place without approval or direction of the governor.
· Shelter in place, as implemented by other municipalities and states, is not a complete lockdown that requires people to not leave their homes. People are still allowed to go to work, to go to the grocery store, to go to the pharmacy, to go to the doctor, etc.
Please help us to share this with your constituents. It’s important during this time of uncertainty that we maintain constant communication. Please know we are keeping you up to date as considerations and decisions are made. Rest assured that no decision relative to a shelter in place has been made. If the time comes that such measures are necessary to mitigate and slow the spread of COVID-19, we will absolutely have that discussion with you before announcements are made.
As always, we remain on call to answer any questions you may have or provide any assistance you may need.
Sincerely,
Adam Eitmann
Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs

I think everyone knows the “shelter in place” order is coming
Stop calling it a “lockdown” though because that isn’t very accurate
All “essential life sustaining” businesses will remain open and they are pretty liberal with what that means too

Pretty nuts Illinois has 580 case, Louisiana has 479 cases. Illinois’ population is 2.5 greater than LA

it's not going to be the Governor at first. it will be mayors/sheriffs

It’s like it’s the 2016 Wisconsin game again

The governor will be shutting office buildings down. It will be mandatory and no longer optional.
So my small CPA firm has to close? I would think I’m pretty essential right now as I am keeping the revenue flowing to the people via tax refunds and helping clients fill out SBA loans. But hey, if good ole JBE thinks I should close he can go frick himself.
I’ve cancelled all in person meetings. All material is either dropped off in a lock box outside, mailed or emailed in. My staff is scaled back to only 5 employees in the office at one time. If more than that is required to stop the spread than nothing outside of locking us inside our homes will do.

My thought is that if the mayors and sheriffs of Orleans and Jefferson Parish don't issue shelter in place orders for those areas soon, admin will be forced to do it statewide in order to shut those areas down.
Everyone is already sheltered in place. Nothing is open.
They can’t close take out or fast food pick ups. More than a 1/3 of the Orleans population dont. Have the cooking skills to feed themselves. They depend on gas stations and fast food for their meals
Not everyone can afford to buy enough groceries and cook, they just aren’t set up for that.
There won’t be a lockdown. Places will remain open but just on a limited basis.
shite, the Taco Bell on Claiborne still has their lobby open to just take out because so much of their business is people that don’t have cars to go through the drive thru. So they took all the seats outs, closed the bathrooms and only letting people walk in to get a to go order.

It won’t be enforced. How the frick do they know if you are on the way to a dr, grocery or home. Ain’t no way to enforce a partial stay at home order. Seems like the only real downside is no more restaurant food.

Hope the State Parks stay open, best kind of social distancing for me, I know Bayou Segnette and Chicot are currently closed.
