They already know your 2019 W2 and 1099 income.

That’s nowhere near all income that either is or should be reported

Are people on Social Security getting it?

The way that I read it (and I read about 1/2 a page of it) seems like it is a tax credit. Is that right? If so, I can live with that (even though I phased out and won't get squat).

I would be pissed if people who are on welfare and social security get it when they aren't experiencing any more financial hardships than before.

This is true. But it is a starting point.

My daughter turned 18 this week.

The point of this relief is that it will be quick. The only way to get checks to the people within a couple of weeks is to use the most recent set of complete tax data...2018.

The point of the relief is also to give relief.

Some people, like me, got married last year and that drastically changes how much we would get.

Well, one would assume that you filed last year and she filed last year, so you'd both still get $1,200.

Don't know how a tax form from 2 years ago is appropriate to use to reflect economic situations now to determine need. Seems highly inappropriate

Ya think? Say I’m a small business owner and had a killer year in 2018 and am currently fricked.

But oh well.

Some people, like me, got a large severance in 2018 that is going to keep me from getting it, or all of it, as well. Thems the breaks

We are on SS and plan on donating our socialism numbing to people who need it more than us, IF we get a check. I do not like this one damn bit because I am a real conservative. There is something here that we are not seeing, kinda' like the forest and tree story shite

Brings up a good point. It'll be interesting to see how the numbers and checks works couples married in 2018 but divorced now. One check with two names on it? The deaths from the fallout of that alone may outpace the virus.

If they base it on us filing jointly and being under 150k, I'm getting muh virus reparations. If it is based on individual, I aint gettin shite. Crazy common core math based bullshite.

The "phase three" bill unveiled by Senate Republicans on Thursday includes rebates of $1,200 for most individuals who reported less than $75,000 on their 2018 tax returns, or $2,400 per couple who filed their taxes jointly and made less than $150,000.

Another $500 would be added for every dependent child. Low-income Americans with at least $2,500 of qualified income, but who do not earn enough to pay income tax, get a smaller benefit of $600, or $1,200 for couples.

The payments would be gradually phased out for individuals with income between $75,000 and $99,000, at which point payments cut off.

what does the bolded part mean?
