I think it's obvious this is the answer. But we'll wait another week before broadcasting it to the world in sure

This doesn't mean drop everything and go with the hail mary

Why not? If taking it has virtually no sides effects, then throw the fricking ball

I'm saying use it to the hilt, but do not stop developing other treatments.

Probably didn't word it the best.

Once weekly hcq like used against malaria will be used for people as a bridge to vaccine if I had to guess.

But that is a massive amount of hcq.

It has been available since the '30's so why in the hell do we need to spend months testing something that could very well stop this pandemic in it's tracks?

From what I understand, it's a question of appropriate dosage. This drug is meant to be given to folks early in the illness which put the "do no harm" pressure at its highest since the overwhelming majority of these people will get better no matter what. The last thing anyone wants is thalidomide, you know.

Called my primary care Dr. yesterday and asked them if chloroquine would be available for high risk individuals which would include myself due to age and a previous heart attack. I was told there's no directive from government officials to begin preventative chloroquine dispensation......was also told the current supply of chloroquine is being used for patients who are already sick with COVID19 and some is being held back for healthcare workers due to the hazards of their job.

It is a potential treatment, not a vaccine. I don't know of any doctor claiming it could prevent you from getting cv19.

Well, in vitro studies actually showed it inhibited the viruses ability to enter the cell. So I think it is at least plausible as a prophylactic.

Doctors are incredibly conservative, by training.

The minimum effective dose is certainly a question. With my lax attitude, I’d just use the Malaria dosing as a safe guideline. And go from there.

Obvious answer. Those countries don't have the resources to test for it.

Is there a noticeable spike in deaths? Sickness? Hospitalization?

That’s what this all comes down to. For countries that haven’t done a damn thing, shouldn’t we be seeing this run rampant if it is such a societal threat?

Warm equatorial weather.....Summer year round. Flu thrives in cold, dry climate.

That map pretty much doubles as places where the governments aren't really testing. Right now, super rich Singapore population: 5M has about ~350 official cases after putting in place strict testing and quarantine measures. Nearby Indonesia which is a little more than 50 times as big, poor and doing absolutely nothing about Covid-19 also has~350 official cases. The amount of testing being done seems like a significant confounding factor here.

that doesn't explain deaths. if it's true that the number of cases is dependent on testing, and they aren't really doing anything socially, the deaths should be through the roof. heck, the deaths aren't high worldwide right now and that's after at least 4 months
