I recently bought my first AR. I got the M&P-15 Sport II for $699.00. It came with Magpul furniture, a sturdy vertical foregrip with built in light (3 levels of brightness and strobe), and a carrying case. Good buy or no?

Not yet. Looking into an affordable red dot. Any suggestions? I've got a cheap Bushnell red dot on my shotgun, but I would need to get a riser to run it on my AR.

holosun and primary arms are good budget options

never a bad idea to get proficient with the irons before adding an optic.

Sounds like a good buy to me!

Not to hijack the thread, but whats a good website to buy parts for my Colt SP1? I think I want to start customizing it.

I've got an Aimpoint Pro but I'd almost rather a regular (small/light) scope for a truck gun.

Not much bad to say about that gun, I've got a Gen1 and a Gen2. Not sure you got a deal, but that part doesn't matter.

Give the Leupold RDS a look. You can get for $299. Waterproof, decent glass and Leupold warranty.

I found a Vortex Sparc II for my AR-9 build. Pretty happy with it.

Was pretty easily hitting a target at 100yds with it.

If you have an original Colt SP1 I would keep it as is, they’re pretty collectible. If it were me I’d figure out how I wanted the AR setup and build a new rifle with all the exact parts you want.

Yeah, I wouldn't touch that thing. The retro thing is coming back big.

That was a $519 gun a week ago, a $569 gun today.

Ask before you buy.
