Albany Georgia having problems with Covid

From a physician
“COVID-19 is real, folks.
My parents are in their 80s and live in South Georgia. Their caregiver is in her 40s, on a ventilator, Covid-19 positive. Her mother is also on a ventilator.
The ICU beds at the hospital which serves the entire region of the state are full. The hospital has 2 floors of confirmed and suspected Covid-19 patients. They are already diverting patients to other hospitals. They have had to send people back into the community without testing because there haven’t been enough tests.
The ER docs don’t have sufficient protective gear for intubations which are happening on almost every shift. 2 out of 4 critical care docs are quarantined, as are multiple nurses, housekeepers, and aids. Doctors are calling nail salons looking for masks. Let that sink in.
My parents are now officially quarantined since they spent 11 hours with the caregiver the day she went into the hospital. I am self-quarantined with them. I am trying to keep them from my kids and my husband who happens to be just about the same age as the ventilated caregiver.
Do what you can before COVID-19 becomes this personal for you, your family, your office.”

I think we all know that.

Interesting. I saw this same post from an “ER doc in Jackson” and one of my wife’s friends posted it from one in Houston.

Proper protective gear for intubations? Makes no sense

Some around here think it’s panic, everybody overreacting.

This reads like they were on a ventilator before contracting Covid-19.
ETA: On second thought, I don't know how to English

Ironically, a small town hospital in Alabama shut down at the end of last month.

Article from the area seems to confirm it.
Yes, it is Phoebe Putney per the doc
“Besides the current individuals with positive tests, Phoebe is awaiting coronavirus test results on 41 other patients in the hospital. Each has symptoms of the disease – typically fever and signs of acute respiratory illness, such as cough and difficulty breathing.
About 30 Phoebe staff members – from doctors and nurses to housekeepers – are self-quarantining at their homes, having had contact with coronavirus patients and showing mild symptoms, said Scott Steiner, CEO of Phoebe Putney Health System.””

Some people are so stupid it staggers the mind to try to comprehend it.

It is from a Dermatologist on a Derm only board. But whatever makes you feel better

Yeah like people consider healthcare a right when it's a limited resource that relies on others' service. Pretty stupid people out here.

Still waiting on that list of actual rights there chief. Whenever you're ready.

And yet, this is not the case in large, more populated cities. Plus, on a public message board with over 100,000 people, no one has a first hand account of anything like this.
This is a prime example of fake social media stories to create hysteria

Yep more Facebook click bait. Talking heads would be ramming this down our throats if it was true, hell they would even if it wasn’t.

The article states that 5/8 COVID patients are hoispitalized. OP says 2 ICU floors are full with COVID patients. Things that make you go hmmmmmm
Posted on 3/17/20 at 7:21 am to EarlyCuyler3
So you want to go with it being a right and that italy would be committing human rights violations by denying healthcare to some? Bold move considering you could be accused of that in the scenario you were talking about yesterday.
