Sasol is the largest employer tax payer in South Africa. They will survive because the government won't let it fail.

Looks like they plan to sell up to 2 billion in stock to raise money for debt payoff

I wouldn't invest a thin dime in any outcome depending on the South African government, it may already be a failed state.

So I’m going to ask this question again (been asking it since the National Bank of Greece was all the rage on here a few years ago - “government won’t let it fail” argument): what does the prospect of a company not failing have to do with it being a good investment???

I’m not saying this one is good or bad. I have no idea. But I surely wouldn’t rely on “surviving” meaning good investment.

They are looking for partners in their new ethylene and polyethylene plant in Westlake.

If that doesn't make enough they will issue more shares. They need a billion by June 30th.

Stock is still projected at $17 at 12 months projection.

Depends on oil. If oil stays at the low 20s sasols in a huge fricking bind and may have to sell their new plant. If they can make their debt need by June 30 they have enough cash to make it fine as is until the end of 2021.

Between now and June 30th will be a fun ride

How long do y’all plan on holding ssl? I got in at 3.50. Feel like it could continue to go up to 12-15.

Good question. Why did it drop so much? I know some people who purchased Sasol at the lower $2.00 per share? It is like they felt there was little risk.

2100 shares
avg under $3

Every time I bought shares, I told myself "buy more..go all in." Just couldn't pull the trigger.

Me either, between the oil prices and the horror stories I was hearing from the LC project I was a little scared of the stock.

I'm in like 1.43 for 1600 shares.

At 10 I'll probably reduce. Watch at 13-14 to pull out.

If it plows through 14 it'll make 19-20.

I still think it can make 20 at least. All provided they can raise cash for June 30th. Watch oil for the tell. If oil surges stay in. Summer would help driving season as we reopen. Help support the market.
