When the oil boom was happening, which lawyers were making the most money?

I'm reading a book of the oil boom of Louisiana during the 1970s-1980s and it talks about how lawyers were making bank off of oil workers that were constantly getting injured on the job.
I'm wondering who these lawyers would be.
Any of you OT lawyers know who I'm talking about or have any good stories?

One of the same firms just made a boatload for the state over wetlands destruction.
Also got JBE elected twice.

My dad wasnt doing personal injury but he did a lot of stuff directly and indirectly related to oil and gas. We had a small plane, took vacations to places like Jackson Hole, etc. That swiftly changed when the bust hit.

I knew a guy who sustained some injury and his dad was killed offshore, in the early 80's,. He got paid like ole Tom in Office Space. Bought a Vette, a truck, and a couple of boats. I rode with him to Piggly Wiggly, on the 4th of July. He bought all of the meat they had for our Lake D'Arbonne cookout. He bought another guys a Vette and let him make payments. Pretty sure he ran through the money that year.

Serious answer is that all the big name attorneys you see during the Saints and LSU games are probably all the ones OP is talking about. Just look up all the main contributors to GUMBOPAC and OP will have his answer. Them baws ain’t giving up that cash cow anytime soon.

It was that douche who used to run around Lafayette in his Porsche with the "1 Third" license plate.

People forget about how many people live of the oil industry in Louisiana. On here it’s just truck nuts and red necks but so many businesses closed during the last downturn. Restaurants, hotels, transportation, etc.
Interesting how it’s a sad violin playing here for the restaurant workers that can’t work for 2-4 weeks bc of coronavirus but no one gave a frick about them when oil crashed
