Coronavirus is a joke. Yet nothing cancelled then and people barely remember. I wonder why?

H1N1 killed 282 U.S. children in 2009-2010, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says. CDC says H1N1 infected 61 million Americans during the pandemic and killed around 12,000.

I had a professor get H1N1. He said it was one of the worst experiences of his life.

We can make more children, do you know how long it takes to make an old person?

In fairness, we had an H1N1 vaccine within 4 months IIRC

I just don’t understand this logic
Maybe they don’t want 12,000 people to die again?

Before people come in with their hot takes:
We didn't have an H1N1 vaccine for almost a year.
H1N1 ravaged college campuses and attacked younger people.

He’s obviously never gotten off the interstate in Slidell.

From the big thread posted by rds dc

quote:
The global spread of H1N1 was observed by public health authorities and conveyed by the media. In the beginning, horrendous figures on mortality were discussed, but were found to be wrong later on.6 In Italy, the H1N1 pandemic was responsible for 260 reported deaths caused by complications stemming from pandemic influenza and 5.600.000 cases of influenza-like illness between week 31 of 2009 and week 17 of 2010.7
quote:
Italy will likely cross 1,000 deaths today and is currently committing economic suicide to try and stop the spread. So, yea, just like H1N1.

Within 1 week now people on this board will finally realize that this is not a joke.

There is an extreme amount of over reaction going on here. Seems almost fake

You’re right. You should pass this info on to literally every federal government entity so they can realize they’re all wrong.

The severity of H1N1 resulted in less transmission.
There were far fewer asymptomatic carriers and a higher mortality rate. The fact that covid 19 is less severe is the reason that it’s is more of a threat as a pandemic. And although symptoms are far less severe than H1N1, you don’t want to get this and pass it to grandma
