My family friend PCP said that in his opinion that if I had not been prescribed the prednisone that I probably would be fine today.
The issue killing Covid-19 pts is pneumonitis with progression to ARDS. Covid-ARDS often represents an overwhelming and self-damaging inflammatory pulmonary response.

Prednisone is a potent anti-inflammatory agent which could theoretically stem the body's overreaction to Covid-19. That is the thesis.

Latest update for whatever fricking day I’m on.

Started feeling a little better today and now the damn thing has come back with a vengeance again tonight. Temp 101.5, massive migraine on left eye all day, and shortage of breath. Found myself waking up gasping for air.

Called one of my family friends who is one of the top doctors in the state and he just told me that the Mayo Clinic is sending a huge batch of test results to Oschner tomorrow and that the early word I s that New Orleans will have the highest per capita Positive Covid patients in the entire United States. He said we are about to see a pandemic unlike anything imaginable.

Now waiting for my aspirin to kick in so I can try go to sleep.

Most miserable experience ever!!

Man I feel for you because I may be there. I’ve been having the same symptoms since last weekend. Started getting much better this morning but now tonight I’m going downhill yet again. Only now I finally don’t have any fever but the shortness of breath and chest burning sensation is worse now than it’s ever been.

I wouldn’t describe the symptoms in my chest as “pain” but more like a burning sensation. Definitely a shortness of breath but I don’t feel like I can’t breathe.

Been waiting a week now for my results.

Be careful with the breathing issues man. Seek help if it gets too bad.

Do either of you have a pulse oximeter to measure your oxygen level??? Walmart or walgreens sells them I think. Small investment to monitor your oxygen levels.

I do not but come Monday if I still feel this way I’m going back to the doctor and demanding treatment of some kind. Just SOMETHING needs to be done. Whether I have coronavirus, bronchitis, pneumonia, or a terrible cold, I need to get better. At this point I’m convinced anxiety is playing a role as well.

A few guys on the poly board are saying clinics in Alabama are already treating with the meds Trump mentioned and Other countries have been using. From my understanding they are pretty basic drugs that are not terribly hard to come by. Calling and trying to get a script might not be a terrible idea now that it appears American Doctors are using them.

I would feel like I’m taking up resources that could go to someone else because I don’t have trouble breathing, per se. it’s just that I’m at the point where I find myself having to take a deep breath a lot. When I go to the bathroom, when I walk outside and feel the heat, but especially when I lay down, I just feel an odd sensation in my chest. Kind of like I just need to take a deep breath. I try to test it by taking as deep a breath as I can and I have zero issues inhaling very deeply so that makes me feel like it’s not too bad.

I just don’t know. It’s weird and makes it difficult to describe.

Hell is an apt description.

Seriously though if anyone has symptoms they need to go get treated immediately before the hospital system is overwhelmed in New Orleans next week.

Have you ever had pneumonia? Not "walking" pneumonia or whatever nonsense people call it. But real, diagnosed pneumonia? That is what you feel like because your lungs aren't picking up enough oxygen. And chest tightness.

I almost died from it 10 years ago, was hospitalized for 5 days. Don't screw around if it gets worse. And get you an oximeter. I can't recall the exact number but look it up. If it gets too whatever number it is, get your arse to the hospital. I almost slipped into a coma as I was getting admitted.

Idk what number is considered “acceptable” but as close to 100 is preferred. Hopefully someone here can tell you at what level you should haul arse to the er.
