This comes up often with people who are against recreational use for marijuana among other things

The logic is even if you think the law is stupid you must enforce it

Now let's take that and flip it on it's side for a minute. If you have that logic then why would you be upset about someone doing something that you don't like that's actually legal. Like say..having an abortion. If it's legal why do you care since the law is so fricking important to you?

This is one of the dumbest arguments I’ve ever encountered.

Either the law is of supreme importance or it isn't

It's pretty simple

I'm not so sure about the logic employed here. False equivalence, as they say.

I can't imagine there is a single person on this board that doesn't acknowledge the legality of abortion. But it's quite possible to acknowledge legality and at the same time be staunchly opposed to it.

After reading this, I'm thinking about sending my dog through law school.

Don't do it. Discourage he or she from going. The market's flooded and Mckernan's pulling all the bread n butter fender benders.

Convince the dog to consider a career as physician's assistant. That's where it's at.

Sure. You could also support not enforcing the law.

We have plenty of dumb laws on the books that almost no one enforces.

I fail to see a contradiction in wanting to uphold a law, regardless of its mandates while at the same time opposing another law regardless of its mandates.

People don't care about whether the act is illegal or not. The question is, should the act be legal. That is to say people don't support things based on their legality. They argue for legality of thr things they support.

It's a nuance that you probably don't understand because you may be mentally challenged.

Let’s see if I can untwist your pretzel logic.......smoking weed vs killing babies.....you know what? Forget it! This OP is so convoluted and disjointed I’m not gonna try.

Your logic is illogical.

Regardless, of the law, it must be enforced. Period! If we don’t like it, there are ways to have the law changed. But until that time, lawbreakers should be held accountable.

Your argument that one cannot be critical of someone doing something legal is flawed. I am critical of someone legally driving 30 mph when the speed limit is 55 mph. I am critical of the morals of someone who aborts a baby even though it is legal to do so.

It’s legal to execute gays in some countries. Does that make it ok?

It’s the difference between obedience to the law and lobbying lawmakers to change the law.

Well that''s the odd thing

Why obsess over enforcing drug laws that you disagree with when there are much more pressing matters like changing legislation on abortion.

No one in their right mind should want marijuana laws enforced and if they do it should be about priority #6000 on the list.
