Handsize correlates with arm strength, accuracy, & ball security
It’s hard to bet against Joe’s body of work but something to keep an eye on for sure
Dont give me this crybaby shite? You know exactly what youre doing. Calling me vague thats laughable. You are purposely vague so no one can call you out TECHNICALLY.

If I wanted to bet against him I would. I surely wouldn’t be afraid to say it.
If he does becomes an elite QB he’d certainly be an outlier for one with that hand size.
No need to throw a hissy fit. That is a fact.
Call it out if you want, you’re gonna look stupid if you want to go there.,

The strength of someone's hands, wrists and forearms would significantly matter for someone lifting extremely heavy weights, not a football. Plenty of big people have weak grip strength. How has JB's hand size affected his accuracy in 2 years as a starter at LSU? How many times did he fumble due to having 9" hands? He played on wet fields and still had success. You are going out on a limb with no direct applicability. In the event he did have lower completion rates in some games that also could be because of receiver short comings, not his accuracy nor hand size. Regardless, his eyes and what is between his ears separate him from a lot of potential QBs that would like to start in the NFL. I bet Winston would trade hand size with Burrow to obtain his live action mental gifts.

The evidence of 2018?
The evidence that he could lead a hamstrung offense to victory?
The evidence that he could outrun defensive backs to ice a game?
Evidence that he could learn a playbook in 2 months?
Not sure why people are pushing that narrative that he was arse in 2018. The offense was arse and all of his success was despite that.

Ohhh... mike vick had one of the strongest arms ever and his hand size was 8.5...

This is all part of the pre-draft process. They find something "wrong" with EVERY prospect. Almost as bad as social media.

Hand size is such an overrated stat. Can the dude make accurate throws to all parts of the field or not? We know this answer already.

Lester loves him some combine measurements
Posted on 2/24/20 at 3:42 pm to illuminatic
I see Patrick Mahomes measured 9.25, nobody can sling it like him.

It will take a slight adjustment to the pro ball because it’s a little bigger but like the other poster said Vick threw one of the prettiest and longest balls in the NFL so I’m sure a worker like Burrow will adjust properly.

I sure do. And as data accumulates over the years, thresholds develop and you generally want to be on the winning side of those.
And again, I am not betting against joe burrow. He’s always reminded me of tony romo, who also had small hands.
There are outliers and always will be. The draft especially early on is about mitigating risk. There’s a reason people pay attention to this stuff

From last year with Kyler Murray the topic of discussion...
quote:
Sports Illustrated noted that before the 2014 draft, writer Colby Rogers attempted to quantify the impact of hand size. Using measurements from the combine and football stats (starts, touchdown passes and interceptions), he found that the best size isn’t either large or small. It’s average. The group with hands between 9¼ and 9¾ inches outperformed players outside that range.

You ever try and throw a K2 football or a nerf football compared to an nfl ball?
Go try that and get back to me and pretend like the size of your hands do not matter.
Bigger hands allow you to manipulate & control the ball more. Better spin, better accuracy, longer distance, more velocity.

It can work against you as well. People with hands that are too big have trouble with touch and accuracy like Jamarcus Russell. Incorrect launch angles with excessive pressure at the wrong places turns into poor accuracy.
Posted on 2/24/20 at 7:08 pm to Madking
But as proven here, Russell didn't have big hands just a shitty franchise and work ethic

You’re right bad example. Should’ve gone with Mallet

Just re-watched the OU game and the whole time I was marveling at how tiny Joe's hands looked. Almost like when Deadpool cut off his hand and had to regrow em. I guess at this point we should take back his Heisman cause there is no way those child like hands accomplished what he did this past yr ;)

Mahomes measured 9 1/4 at the combine.
