Taking care of a nice wooden cutting board

What do y'all do? Picked up a nice board overseas and would like to keep it for the long haul

Wash it in the sink with warm soap and water after each use. I don't soak it in the water. Spray it with sanitizer and wipe clean. Mineral oil every month or two depending on how often I use it. I spread the oil on with my fingers and let it soak into the wood for a couple of hours, then wipe off any excess. I've had the one I use now for 5 or 6 years and still looks great.

Clean and oil. Hang it on the kitchen wall for decoration.
Get yourself a nice polyethylene board with non-skid bottom and you will not have to baby it. It is dishwasher safe and does not absorb any food juice. Also easier on your knife edges than wood which contains silica( abrasive).

It’s time for y’all to stop using wooden cutting boards. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of downvotes, but it’s the truth. You can’t find a wooden board in a food processing facility because you can’t clean them. It’s a fact. Time to enter 2020 and stop using wood.

False.
And it’s because plastic is cheaper.
There have been studies done and wood can be kept just as clean as plastic.

Studies have shown wood to have some antibacterial properties. They just aren’t a danger if taken care of. And they aren’t difficult to care for.

When speaking of food safety, a nonporous surface is better than a porous surface (wood). This is fact. Keep arguing all y’all want, you can’t change this fact.

What you’re saying isn’t the reality of a kitchen cutting board.

Ok, boomer.
Educate yourself here.

However, a University of Michigan study found that “more bacteria are recovered from a used plastic surface than from a used wood surface." The study also found that although a new plastic board could be disinfected, a knife-scarred plasti surface was impossible to clean and disinfect manually
