My mother had to be my troup's new scout leader because the last guy has some legal issues to handle.

Pervs are attracted to situations that puts them in close se proximity to children. This is universal, whether it's school, scouts, church, etc.

But keeping a kid out of Boy Scouts because of this Is dumb. They can be exposed during sports, school, church, etc.

Numbers vary but I think it's about 6 thousand nationwide out of about 2 million or so.
It's a real problem and that's counting the one I've seen who also happens to be the daughter of a scout master.

The skills BSA has always taught, it still teaches.
Lot of church-going baws out there who hate women, hate gays, etc, and thus no longer want their sons to be part of the organization.
Some of those baws happen to be Eagle Scouts.
The Scouts are caught up in the greater social divide occuring in our country, where if an organization doesn't agree 100 percent with what I agree with, then the hell with them and it needs to die.
The social divide that leads to so many boycotts, cancel culture, etc.
If you son is in Scouts, he is going to learn how to camp how to survive, how to serve others, how to lead, how to be a good citizen, etc.
The fact that he might meet a gay, or the fact that girls might learn the same skills, doesn't take away from him learning those skills.
That's what I wish people would realize.

Did the Scouts cover for the pedos once caught? Because the Catholic Church did that.

Both the Boy Scouts and Catholic Church allowed some rotten things to happen. As did other organizations.
Both are paying the price.
Both have strong new practices to try to prevent this in the future.
Neither deserve a death sentence.
I guess you could argue that maybe a priest has a higher moral authority than a scout leader, so perhaps that's why people are more upset at the church.

That's the thing here. The Scouts have had this issue for ages and and kept it hush hush.
