quote:i was full on board with you till you mentioned that part about "holy catholic church."
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit
the same church that has led the cover-up of priests abusing young boys and girls worldwide.
this type of abuse goes back for hundreds of years and continues to this day.
holy catholic [universal] church. seriously?

“Catholic” simply means the universal Church (which is why I added that in brackets), or the invisible Church throughout all geographic locations and throughout time. It’s not referring to the church in Rome that covers up pedophilia and teaches a works-based salvation.

I believe the president can spell. I believe any spelling mistakes he makes are because he’s a very busy man who doesn’t watch much TV, or because he’s intentionally triggering the libs.
He went to the Wharton School at Penn. Not everyone gets into that school.

I know 3 people just like this guy or girl. This is their bio:
1) 64 to 69 years old.
2) part of the resistance since before the inauguration.
3) Wore a vagina hat in DC to protest MAGA.
4) Part of an e mail organization which plans and coordinates efforts for Libs to be elected statewide.
5) looks for every opportunity to confront Republicans anywhere. They harp on infidelity, lying, the environment, racism and dictatorship. They literally cannot talk to you without mentioning how they hate Trump.
6) totally grey hair
7) they adore and worship BHO and MO.

grace, faith and works, all in scripture as to salvation and is what catholics teach. go back to misunderstanding scripture and church teachings like when i made you look silly on your graven images diatribe. LOL

Here is a link for you on the nicene creed before you go on a tangent about this also. the filioque clause added is correct and is backed up by scripture. see link.
in the beginning there was one, holy, catholic and apostolic church....it consists of two main churches now after the split in 1054. yours is not one of them being you follow a manmade church created in the 1500s or later. LOL

quote:Tell me, does the RCC teach that justification (the legal declaration of being forgiven of all sin and declared as righteous or sinless before God) is the result of faith (the unmerited gift of God) alone apart from any work of charity ("good work") performed by anyone other than Christ Himself? Does the RCC teach that justification is both obtained and maintained by God alone through faith in Christ alone?
grace, faith and works, all in scripture as to salvation and is what catholics teach.
If the RCC teaches that man contributes to his own justification or righteousness before God through his own works, then the RCC teaches a works-based salvation. And to be clear, I mean a works-based salvation that is dependent on the works of sinners, not the works of Christ alone.
quote:Link? I'd like a refresher on what you claim you've done.
go back to misunderstanding scripture and church teachings like when i made you look silly on your graven images diatribe. LOL
quote:I didn't claim otherwise. All churches are made up of sinners. The visible church also includes many reprobates. I was specifically calling out the church of Rome for its coverup of pedophilia in response to a poster who mentioned that very issue. Whether other denominations or individual churches do the same is irrelevant to my point. No one should tolerate such behavior, including the church in Rome.
yeah man no other churches have had any sexual predator issues
quote:Thanks for the reminders that sin exists everywhere, however like I said, it should be condemned everywhere.

One of the problems I have with Baptists is that by and large they adhere to a congregational form of church government with no oversight beyond what the congregation and its board of deacons/elders/pastor agree to. There is no authority to appeal to or to hold anyone accountable to abuse. It's relation to other churches is that of voluntary affiliation.
quote:Wrong. I don't belong to a church or denomination that tolerates such things.
