No doubt NASCAR will look at this and determine how they can make that area of the car stronger and safer.

This is the current Nascar roll cage I believe; LINK

I don't know how much more they can really put in the driver's area that still allows egress.

One last thing for the night,,,,watch when Ryan got loose then shot up the track in front of Hamlin, right when Newman passes in front of Hamlin, the wind flaps on the hood raise up, then the front end of Hamlin car shakes, looks like Newman’s car brushes the front of Hamlins car,,,,,a couple more inches and Hamlin would have been tied up with Newman and this wreck would have been totally different

No they wouldn’t have. The wreck happened on last lap

OK. Yeah that's true but I don't see why they needed to throw a caution flag.

Now that we know he is alive I do wonder who Roush will get to drive the #6 the rest of the year?

A wreck in front of whole field with leader going across the track? The way they throw cautions forminimal things yet then that? It should’ve been thrown. They just make up things as they go.

The double yellow penalty would’ve never been called on a front line driver. It’s just so random.

Daniel Suarez seems like the logical choice. Roush doesn’t have the feeder team anymore. Suarez would give them a decent driver that can fill in and they can decide next year.

Unfortunately we’ve seen Ryan Newman’s last race. Went from career redeeming win to nearly dead. All in a matter of 300 feet.

If they had thrown a caution it would not have changed the wreck on the track or the seriousness. The drivers would all have had an earful from spotters long before a caution came out anyway. It literally would have done nothing besides change the final finish order.

I didn’t say it would. But then preaching how they want to be safe racing and take all precautions then that?

We can throw a caution for a straw on track. But not leader in race

That’s my complaint. It’s be consistent

Isn’t Suárez under contract with a Penske satellite team? Or is it RF satellite

Don't worry, NASCAR is doing it's best to go out of business all by themselves. They don't need your help.

It’s a Toyota team, but I don’t think it’s anyone’s satellite team.

Gaunt Brothers. A backmarker that didn’t make the 500. It would be real shitty of Toyota to block him from a promotion

The flagman was waving the checkered flag when the wreck happened.

There is no way, or reason, to throw a caution at that point. Would have changed nothing other than possibly giving the win to Blaney.

Umm we’ve been told that the lights mean more re than flag. Are you sure he was. They weren’t in trioval yet

It would t changed possibly could’ve probably not though. If the light goes can Lajoie scrub off some speed lessening velocity of his hit.

So is the guy who already failed inspection twice for this race going to really win it?

I bet NASCAR doesn't even release the post inspection results. Hamlin is a known cheater and he got his third 500 win because of it

I think someone like AJ Allmendinger would be a pretty solid choice

I guarantee you his spotter was yelling in his ear before the lights could possibly have come on.

It wouldn’t have one bit. LaJoie was likely already in the breaks when he hit him. He even said in his post race all he could see was smoke so I doubt he’d have seen a small flashing yellow light.
