UPDATE (Feb. 19, 12:43pm CST) - Ryan Newman released from hospital
UPDATE (Feb 19, 10:50am CST)
UPDATE (Feb 18, 2:45pm CST) - Ryan Newman is awake and speaking to doctors:
UPDATE: Ryan Newman is in serious condition after a horrific last lap crash in the Daytona 500. Doctors have indicated that his injuries are NON-LIFE THREATENING.

When are the Duels? Thursday? I know sounds dumb, but I liked how you never saw them it made the race more exciting as you really didn’t know who had the power.

If we had true silhouettes we would have true racing. I still think these cars should be shaped like what’s at the dealership

What's discouraging for me is that less than 10 laps into a 75 lap EXHIBITION race we we're single file. It's not like there is time or a need to save your stuff in this race.

It would help if they'd get the cars off the ground and get rid of the splitters. Make them less aero dependent and guys will be able to move around and jump out of line at superspeedway races.

It’s why my viewing has dropped 80% over the last few years. Boring racing and 0 driver personalities.

Seems that has been restrictor plate racing for the last several years.
Single file for 80-85% of the race, actual racing the last few laps.

Pretty much. If it's this way in this race, I can't imagine how the Daytona 500 will be. That said, I felt this was after last year's Clash and the 500 was actually surprisingly good.

I was in NASCAR for about 25 years, but I’ve got to where I rarely watch a Cup race anymore. I’d rather watch the truck series or Busch series, or whatever they call it now.
